James, 30 Jul 2017Nokia 3310, 5510. Motorola razor, samsung galaxy europa... basically almost all the old school... moreWell those can be counted as half but that exactly means half the size (or even a quarter) of most of smartphone today...
But i imagine "full-screen" *pffttt* means that the screen can display 100% image on the screen. So it means that according to my imagination all the phone you mentioned is basically also full-screen since it can display in all of its area. And i imagined "half-screen display" technology as a screen that only half of the screen can be used.
lol pls don't take me seriously i'm just poking fun at Huawei's terrible choice naming it "full-screen".
Hotkolbas, 01 Aug 2017Well goong by gsmarena reviews i see their battery life tests as real world as possible by mak... moreI personally don't rely on gsmarena's battery life tests/endurance tests and their rankings. Majority of smartpone users are actually using their phones purely, or at least mostly on mobile LTE data; not WIFI or 3G. Nothing in gsmarena's battery endurance tests ever use the phone's own mobile LTE data. The 1 hr of 3G calls doesn't use LTE. The 1 hr of web browsing uses WIFI and not the phone's LTE data. The 1 hr of video playback is offline and does not use LTE. It is therefore not realistic of the usual case scenario where one watches/streams online videos from youtube/netflix/hulu/facebook.
In short, none of the battery tests by gsmarena ever use LTE mobile data which is the single biggest battery drain source in mobile phones for people who are heavily using mobile LTE data for facebook, youtube streaming, online news, online gaming, etc. The phones with the fastest LTE connections (those with 2CA, 4CA, 6CA, 8CA [LTE-A carrier aggregation]) tend to perform the worst. Only battery capacity will matter for heavy mobile LTE data users. As such, ALL LTE capable handsets should have at least 4000 mAh battery (better if much higher capacity) for any LTE phone to last a day of heavy use.

Mates mate 8 was epic but well it is true the best way to find out is to handle one yourself but can you lend me about 700 dollars to purchase a mate o and compare?
I like how everyone is so calm and chill about Huawei pulling this move by copying Samsung but when the original innovator does it they blow a gasket lol
Nothing , 28 Jul 2017You're kidding right! P8, P8 lite and P8 max is 2015 devices. Obviously it will get security p... moreBut its lifetime should have ended in May 2017 but it didnt i still get updates...and i dont give a damn about OS updates if i had ios i would never update it
I just hope they don't forgo the IR blaster
If you price such your low end phones from $120 to $170 you could make good sales out of them from Around Asia and Africa and South America, but they are expensive.
Huawei if you say your Mate 10 will have better battery and better charging speed as well as better photographing capabilities. Well I surely believe this. But we wait to see.
James, 30 Jul 2017Nokia 3310, 5510. Motorola razor, samsung galaxy europa... basically almost all the old school... morebut they were full screen maybe small but still full screen same for the keyone comment after you
maybe huawei guy dont know what he is talking about or he is just trying to make a hype
Hotkolbas, 30 Jul 2017Well I hope the battery life is more like the older mates unlike the 9. I can see the point... moreMate 9 battery is the best. Battery scales with performance, unlike Sh*t mate 8 with low performance. You'd better hand on and use it instead of reading review.
Well I hope the battery life is more like the older mates unlike the 9.
I can see the point for the low end market as its absolutely saturated with low low profit and usually towards prepaid market.
Well id like to see what they mean and if its true of a absolute min bezzeless front.
AnonD-640318, 29 Jul 2017I never recall that there are any phone with half-screen display. lolJust look at the blackberry KEYone lol

Great news, bezeless is the way to go, esp for big sized phones and Huawei is a premium company, so it's good that they will be focused there!
I never recall that there are any phone with half-screen display.
Can a phone with a bezeless 16:9 aspect ratio screen be considered full screen??? If not, why not.
In my view it doesn't mean a phone must have the recent trend of elongated n narrow 18:9AR screen to be full screen.
The Mate 9 is almost bezeless.. therefore in my view all Huawei has/had to do is shrink the top and bottom bezels a tad to achieve some sort of full screen on a similar size screen as the Mate 9.
The perfect size screen and perfect aspect ratio 👍
Huawei is staying focused on the middle and higher market segments of mobile phones and hopefully consumers like me can benefit from good selling prices with premium quality phones. This is because it cut out costs from low price phones.
Anonymous, 28 Jul 2017Since it's a full-screen display it would be more convenient to use with one hand this time :) Nope tall screens are very hard to be used new handed. No chance to use navigation bar and notifications without majorly adjusting the grip.
Bezeless ultra tall phones were he final nail on the coffin of one handed use.
Now if he were to keep he 16:9 aspect ratio it would have been a different story, but apparently they don't care about one-handedness...
Along with infinite autonomy (removable battery) it went he way of the dodo, two severe downgrades that no amount of upgrades would ever fix...
With Huawei discontinuing the low end range, which manufacturers are left?
Samsung, Xiaomi, what else?
With Xiaomi unavailable on many markets, it seems Samsung will be running the low end section for quite a long time.
