Also, the chip business is cruel. AMD is using the Samsung process for all of their Ryzen CPUs and all graphics. AMD used to own foundries, that they had to sell due to Intel's monopoly violations, that AMD could not rebuy by the time Intel had to pay their penalties to AMD. Those foundries are now Global Foundries, which use the Samsung process. Ironic, isn't it?

Anonymous, 28 Jul 2017Apple makes nothing , only money off fools...It is true that Apple makes nothing. On the other contrary, Samsung has the know how to make things; but they have to pay royalties for the licensing rights such as the methods of making them. Meaning the technology is not theirs in the first place.

Dudecool, 28 Jul 2017I feel like Apple will be up there eventuallyApple doesn't make components for other OEMs.
So unlikely to make the list.

In fact, Apple doesn't make components at all. Apple just integrate other companies' technologies, and called it 'innovation'. ;)

AnonD-611364, 28 Jul 2017Really? No I don't even think so. Their chipsets are only available for their IPHONE only, the... moreI would like to correct that. Apple doesnt make the SoC's at all they have TSMC for that. While samsung on the other hand IS the work horse from the bunch, They design and make there own and create loads for others like qualcom and Mediatek who dont have any fundries.

Should the credit not be given to ARM because of which these companies ever created a chipset ??

Intel as they did not take mobile business seriously (e.g. being stubborn with Atom for mobile chips). They also did not take the CPU business seriously too by not sticking with the Tick-tock cadence, delaying 10nm process for too long.
