Next up...a poll on which is the better aspect ratio screen. The recent string of narrow elongated 18:9AR screens or the traditional 16:9AR screens..considering all with minimal bezels. For instance let's consider the fact that the actual surface area of two 5.7" screens with both aspect ratios is actually different. You get more surface real estate on a 5.7" with a 16:9AR and it also looks better in my view than the narrow elongated screens.
My priority is not about the aesthetic of the screen when buying a smartphone. Most important things are the big screen and big battery, which comes to the one and only MiMax 1 or 2, no powerbank needed, performance good enough to watch movies and playing 3D games.
I passed all the trendy stuff related with curved Samsung screens when it started with S6. I chose flat S6 because it is nothing more than gimmicks, unfortunately s8 came with curved only, so far it is all right, nothing to brag but not bothering either. I don't think so it is necessary, but curved s6 was really beautiful, s8 doesn't have this kind of factor, probably cause I got used to seeing curved screens everywhere already :)
AnonD-688500, 31 Jul 2017Just look at the curved edges! You can't see anything because of the reflections of the light ... moreNot to mention dead pixels. I saw on edge variants more often . It is a shit gimmick that is now forcing to buy edge screens. The only edge screen that I like is on note 7. But in my country it is rare
Just look at the curved edges! You can't see anything because of the reflections of the light - useless! That was my first impression of Galaxy S7 Edge. Not to mention the uncomfortable grip, slippery, fragile phone, distorted images and video on the edge. Whose CLEVER idea at all was this? And why some people follow so blind something, just because its new???
Most of the voters did not really try a high end curved phone. That is why they voted against what they do not know.
Curved screen is simply amazing and I use the applications and shortcuts attached to it all the time :) :)

I actually voted for 2.5D curved glass on flat screens LOL! i'm one of those who don't rock a case or tempered glass screen protector, so having the side bezels and the extra curved glass makes it easier to hold and swipe

I don't see the practical benefits of curved screens either (hence, 2nd paragraph), but its damn beautiful to look at. I'll give credit when its due.
Curve screen! It's just so beautiful to look at, and on top of that, attracts heaps of attention especially at my work place. Curve screen is an absolute must for me!
I will choose a flat screen or 2.5d, I will never go for curve one.. My beautiful Xperia Z2 drop on to road more than 3times thanks to the quality and structure designs and also it is a flat screen, it still fine(I am using it), but let's say it is a curve screen it must be broken absolutely! Curve screen is a nightmare for me, maybe should wait for Gorilla Glass 10 advent then maybe I will change my mind.
Lagos, 30 Jul 2017To those who bash on curved screens, you obviously haven't seen or held a Samsung S8 in person... moreIs it so shocking to see that SOME people prefer practicality over beauty?
Keep those impractical fragile shit out of other models.

Yeah, everyone here basically says that the round displays are cool to look at but difficult to use and very very very fragile. So it's a no no unless they make carbon fiber gorilla glass or something.
They should make them flat and with round corners like the MiMix I think and the G6 with 2.5D glass. That would please a lot of people.
