The worst use of the 2nd camera there is. I was hoping for a super wide angle.

Who said Samsung isn't going to be using a new sensor on the Note8? Stop spreading bullshit speculations mate.

Anonymous, 31 Jul 2017Where are those guys who were saying Samsung will never have dual cameras on their phonesPersonally I was just really hoping they won't. Unfortunately it seems like they did.
To add insult to the injury, the fact that they are not hyping up the MAIN sensor or its size, properties, quality on that dual cam setup is even more disturbing, as it might suggest regression, or at least definitely no progression over the S8 sensor (so also the S7 sensor as it was pretty much the same thing). That means no sensor improvements for two years in a row.

Well, it's a sad year for camera quality for smartphones.

Same is said about graphical power, low light capabilities, mega pixels, processing power, vr capabilities, on and on. Useless gimmicks

vrvly, 31 Jul 2017Wonder how tele camera with smaller aperture and fov can help to make better low light shots. ?They're not just tele lens like Apple's mediocre attempt.. It will also use black and white sensor to reduce noise and a higher megapixel count so that it can zoom just by cropping (1.5x - tele lens and another 1.5x by cropping)

I'd like to have 3x optical zoom. But without a second camera.

It was the typical retractable point-and-shoot, thickness of which was dictated by a lens system, a pretty horrible one too. The Samsung K series could be easily compared to the Hasselblad True Zoom mod for the Motorola Z phone range, where due to a slow lens the image quality is much to be desired.

They sell sensors and all-in-one modules to everyone and their momma, and that includes almost the entire Nikon camera range as well as some non-DSLR Canon cameras (G7X comes to mind as a prime example).

And which sensor modules does the "iphone7 with 2x optical zoom" has? That's right, it's the Sony Exmor RX series... So if anything, Samsung is really late to the party.
