However, those figures are disappointing and the reasons why are fairly obvious. Where I live, the XZP or XZs aren't available. Actually, their latest device is the XA1. And it's a carrier exclusive... to a regional carrier. They pushed the device with the Emoji movie, meaning they obviously target a young audience.
Error 1: No flagship meant to build up brand recognition.
2: Carrier exclusive.
3: Not available with the country's biggest carrier.
4: Only available to less than half the population.
5: Wrong marketing choices by attempting to appeal to teens, however there are no distinctive feature for them (They like to brag and show off their shiny toys)
6: Not exactly cheap and affordable.
7: Wrong marketing choices by targetting teens, so adults aren't likely to buy it.
8: Subpar specifications (MediaTek in developed countries...)
9: Not exactly attractive with dated design, making people seeking for an upgrade not likely to see the difference (the non savvy buyer will buy with his eyes and his pocket) and people that want to change OEMs not likely to like it. (Looks are subjective, but I had quite a hard time looking for anyone having an Xperia here)
10: Too many other players at that price range (A5, G5S+, iPhone 6 32GB, sometimes the S7 Edge...)

            "Sony is dead"
            "sony doesn't sell"
"sony's mobile will be dead by 16"

Facts? Sony is selling, Sony isn't dead, and certainly sony's mobiles aren't dead.
Where are those who used to cheer me up with their jokes?

If they release phones more expensive than the more popular Galaxy and iPhone, it's no surprise. Also, make the software faster, even though they have pretty clean looking and feeling android, their software suffers from performance problems and the mid range from overall sluggishness. So their mid range needs premium materials and better chipsets (no mediocretek).

"Increase in price of key components " They're total not talking about Qualcomm and Samsung...

Before anyone asks: DRAM and NAND costs are very high lately. And who's the main supplier of those things? Hint: they also do displays and cameras.
And everyone knows Qualcomm overcharges everyone with their essentials patents and their SoCs. Sent from a Qualcomm-powered device.

Overall, I'm very glad they have a very slight grow YoY and made more money. Competition is a plus, and the more competition you have, the merrier th3 customers gets as prices or products go better
