When you use cheaper screen, cheaper cpu, cheaper gpu, cheaper ram, cheaper cam, bad UI , no research and dev..
There is money for big battery...
I have seen a battery test of Redmi 4x.. Battery life is worst than a 2400mAh phone
Anonymous, 02 Aug 2017so no snapdragon 836. Guess i'm getting the iphone 8okay
It's look so ugly tall phone with small battery and expensive price
Make it simple
Size should be the same as s8+ with 18:10 aspect ratio.
Finger print doesn't really matters to.
But battery life does matter if Chinese can have 5000 mah then why note 8 can't it should have 6000! Right.
I still don't prefer main camera of Samsung although I really like the selfie camera of s8 and please stop making glass phones.
I'm gonna buy lg g5 I still feel that's a better choice even s7edge is better one.
And I guess s8 active will be better choice
ridiculous. look at that fingerprint scanner. i don't see myself using that with a device this tall. typing that, I realized the reason for the poor location of the scanner. the reason they kept using that location is due to the glass back. aside from the added cost of making a hole at the glass, another hole for the scanner will make the glass structure weaker.
do society a favor, do not buy. there are still flagship smartphones to arrive for the rest of the year.
herrzeba, 02 Aug 2017Slim, bezeless, glass made phones, aspect ratio nobody asked for with non removable batteries.... moreNo, you're not the only one. I've been using the Galaxy Note series since 2011, and since they've sealed the battery, fragile glass, and tried to eliminate the memory expansion on the Note5, Samsung has lost practical and functionality over to becoming greedy with after-sales service fees like screen replacement costing like $220.
Most people don't care or don't know what sealed battery will expand inside.
I used the Note7 for 45 days, and incomparable to the battery life I was enjoying with extended third-party 10,000mAh battery on my Note 3. I have to charge twice a day to keep up. Sealed battery is another strategy to have their products obsolete after a year.
But alas, this is the only one with an S Pen, and I need a better camera. No, I don't need a zoom telephoto lenses. It's a silly addition, like the useless heartbeat sensor. I'd rather they spend that sensor cost with an IR remote controller back.
So essentially, this is the S8+ with a stylus.. And again, the fingerprint sensor position sucks. Design wise, and in my opinion, the S7 duo and the Note 7 looks much better than the current crop of Samsung flagship phones..
Nice, would have like to see a bit more of the a difference in screen sizes maybe at least 6.4 or 6.5. Anyway my only concern is the battery and need gsmarena to do the battery test.... i like it and i want it.
Slim, bezeless, glass made phones, aspect ratio nobody asked for with non removable batteries. That's what they are pushing. And we buy these overpriced gadgets. Marketing is so good, we want a new one, Spider Man Homecoming proves it. I've seen that movie and it was by the numbers production. Am I in minority here?

It's not a practical design element, especially on a phone with a stylus. It's stupid. They are not putting a bigger battery cause they now focus on people who can pay a premium for looks. They stopped focussing on the productivity oriented people the note series was originally meant for. It's saddening
sebastian shaw, 02 Aug 2017There is no way note 8 deserves that price tag. I mean it still have 6 gb ram, less battery th... moreThat price tag you see, is Samsung playing it like Apple. Crappy software gimmicks, and saving on hardware to maximize profit. Look at their battery for instance. Other companies like one plus and xiaomi can build phones with much greater capacities, safety and faster charging. What charging technology than QC 2.0 does Samsung sport to ask us for such a price? All they do is make software adjustments. Nothing else. One plus 5 has almost everything of the s8 except the curves and the iris scanner. And it costs half! Samsung is ripping off of stupid people. That's what they are doing.
KazuhiraDokky, 02 Aug 2017Hopefully no one in their right mind will pay for a 999 for S8+ with a bigger screen, 2 camera... moreDon't forget the crappy battery! Samsung makes us pay thousands for software. Who cares about hardware?
VincentV, 02 Aug 2017That battery.... *facepalm*You're right. It's a joke! Xiaomi or oneplus can make a better phone with twice the battery power and RAM for this price. Maybe not the curved display but who wants one?? A note with a curved display is a business brainwash trick! Sad that samsung is turning to be profit oriented. Very sad to see the note series become a shameful wallet burner.

KazuhiraDokky, 02 Aug 2017Hopefully no one in their right mind will pay for a 999 for S8+ with a bigger screen, 2 camera... moreBut then in same retrospect the Iphone just has dual camera and bigger battery. Its clearly better that the S8+
Another step back with the absurdly low camera. Literally, it is as if Samsung is trying to takes steps back each generation of Note.
Note4 was perfect, head and shoulders above any other phone of its era. Its problems were minor and product of the era (less than perfect fingerprint, relatively low ram, not the greatest low light photography).
Then Note 5 was a step back by sealing the battery and killing the micro SD without much inproving performance or display clarity (at all)
Note 7 was a disaster (or rather explosive ... literally).
And now this, early 2017 hardware which in turn is a tiny improvement over 2016 hardware ... but *also* tiny battery. For 3300 mah to last a day Samsung must kill most background processes at all times which would result into a slow phone, despite the big ram and relatively fast processor...
Samsung what are you doing? What's with the moving backwards?
Cuttin corners is one thing, but ou are literall killing your high end series. Each ear is worse than the last...
