20 million in two months is mighty impressive!

I don't have any info on individual sales, but 2 things for sure: iphones are by far the best selling smartphones in the premium, galaxy S+note are by far the second place.

Placing screen protectors on the display hinders usage. Using cases/covers doesn't help prevent rear damage nearly as much as it should. There, there are some factual inaccuracies that are seldom discussed on such comment section's.

Second, you're comparing a 4 year old phone with a recent phone. Which is not only the price point is different but also the competitiveness of the market is higher now. People have broader range of choice today. You can't simply compare things from 4 years ago without considering the different market condition.
Third, if you really admire innovations of mobile tech, stop seeing only the bigger brand. There are other manufacturers building great innovations like Red Hydrogen with its holographic display, Nexbit with its cloud system, YotaPhone with its ePaper display, Fairphone and Puzzlephone with its modularity, and so on. Stop closing you're eyes on these smaller companies. All of them are also the phone industry you mentioned in your comment.
Oh and also, i'm so tired reading comment about "Samsung's UI is laggy" bla bla bla. I'm using s7 for more than a year now and i don't feel it's lagging to the point i'm getting annoyed. I don't say it never lags even a bit but i barely noticed it. Hell, even my friend's google pixel with its stock launcher does lag. If the last touchwiz you're using is from galaxy s3 or s4, then stop saying about it as if it's still the same now.
Solid number, good news for Samsung, maybe can sell even 40-50 million at the end of the year
AnonD-1825, 04 Aug 2017Shipments aren't sales, for example in my country S7 outsold S8 last two months. You really are struggling with the fact the s8 duo are selling well aren't you! (before you say it yes other phones have sold better but in the saturated market these are selling well)Sure shipments aren't sold units to the end user but it's not like Samsung gives the phones to retailers for free and it's not like retailers just order an obscene amount with the hopes of selling them.
Shipments aren't sales, for example in my country S7 outsold S8 last two months.
AnonD-584268, 03 Aug 2017Only 20 mill in 3 mounth ? iPhone 7s in a day 50 mill That'd be cool ;-) .
Marketing does wonders. Can't fool me tho!

Whole sasmsung galaxy phones sold 100 million and note 4 sold 80 million lol. FYI note 4 one of the worst note made by Samsung and there's no comparison to S8 and S8 plus at all.
Yoigo in Spain is selling S8 for just 240 EUR (10 eur al mes), after that you have to return the phone to operator or pay 100 EUR extra (i guess most will return because the built-in non-removable battery will be dead by then).
In the USA there are 2-for-1 offers...
so the price is actually going down. I wouldn't pay more than 300 EUR for this super fragil phone with programmed obsolensce and unwanted curved edges...
20M shipments? It's not even considered what is sold. That's Note series figures. Samsung in denial. The Galaxy S4 "sold" like 80M back in the day.

S8 will never reach that level unless Samsung sells it for $200 unlocked. It seems to be Samsung Galaxy has already peaked and may never reach the success of previous S and Note phones. People getting tired of Samsung which is good because they ruin Android's reputation with their laggy af skin.
Industry has become stagnant and oversaturated as is. Nothing really exciting except to remove headphone jack or bezels on the top and bottom. Someday, we would have a no bezel phone with nowhere to hold it when we want to game on it or take a photo. Awkward.
Anonymous, 03 Aug 201720 million shipment not selling Lol. Apple sold already 1.2 billion iPhone since 2007 keep dreaming.Apple sold 1.2 billion iPhone. Agreed.
iPhone number is so high because they are making same phone with some MAJOR Name, Color & Button changes since 2007. and millions smart people buy them.
because they don't like change.
Lets do the same way of comparison for Samsung phone
Lets make all the Samsung phones same since 2007 and then it will be way more then 1.2 billion.
Thanks
Anonymous, 03 Aug 201720 million shipment not selling Lol. Apple sold already 1.2 billion iPhone since 2007 keep dreaming.Samsung achieves the 1.2 billion smartphones in just 4 years not in 10, just saying.
Rafe Firmani, 03 Aug 2017Shipment to retailers chain, not necesarilly end users Don't be too happy dog your tongue sli... morea sale is a sale, much like apple and any other manufacturer who sell to retailers, once the orders are placed and samsung ship them to customers/retailers then this is a SALE regardless, so 20 million sales is exactly that, its then up to retailers to move the product on to end user but the cash will be in samsungs pocket as soon as a customer/retailer completes the transaction
Anonymous, 03 Aug 2017Well, The iPhone era as fashion statement is over. I think iPhone X will have a hard time.20 million shipment not selling Lol. Apple sold already 1.2 billion iPhone since 2007 keep dreaming.
