I wonder if adaptive sync will find it's way into phones.
Freesync is an open standard and could help with smoothness in certain situations.

I don't like to speak up to people who are blind, ignorant fanboys, or just haven't tested or proven what they're really saying.
OLEDs indeed have inferior viewing angles. IPS LCDs only loose just a tad bit of brightness but they retain thr same color at any angle, and compare that to no brightness loss but massive color distortion of OLEDs.

Anonymous, 06 Aug 2017IPS LCD for yesterday, OLED for today, microLED for the future
I don't care about burn-in a... moreBurn ins can be permanent mostly for smartphones.
One of my friend already told me that his S7 Edgr started getting burn ins and no matter what he does, it just remains there.
And he's not a power user btw, and he has used his phone for only 1 year.
Quality is most important.
The future should be microled, combining the lack of backlight (and therefore slimmer displays), true blacks and low brightness efficiency of oleds, with the high brightness efficiency, full rgb array subpixels of lcd. Also shouldn't have any problem getting ips colours and viewing angles in high end microled displays.
Once there practical and economical, there are zero downsides.
Anonymous, 06 Aug 20171st of all about amoled is your technically lying they have excellent viewing angles. 2nd is t... moreUnless you haven't seen mass production AMOLEDs. Absolute majority of them, including SGS8, tends to turn white to green at little angles, red to orange. Some does right opposing, turning white to pink and respectively else. According to Samsung this is by design. It is still normal to up to all recent Samsung AMOLEDs. Samsung still fails to make proper filters, like Sharp does.

Surely if you're not voting for: 'Only quality matters' then you're just shamelessly fanboying???

AMOLEDs have poor viewing angles - significant color shift even on little angles. Haven't seen Quantum Dots. But why only Samsung AMOLED is in poll? Why not to group all OLEDs?
So, so far Sharp ASVA and IPS IGZO.
Voted for quality. And waiting for RGBW JOLED.
No screens Oled, only crapmoled pent

I use A7 2016 1 and half year not seeing burn in issue.
Quantum Dot is the future, amoled is ok but looks washed out in bright light, also kills the battery if you are outdoors. Indoors it's good,
Overall I don't think it's worth the price, £350 -£400 to replace the s8 display
