When AMOLED life span gets better it would be AMOLED, but at this state AMOLED burn-in is way too fast for user who wants to use phone for 1+ year...

I am happy more and more devices are using OLED, and I hope the manufacturers will be able to perfect it quicker and switch to large scale production of mainstream but good quality OLED panels and that they will cost them less and less to make, and us less and less to buy.
I would love an OLED TV, and the LG ones have dropped in prices very significantly, but they are still relatively expensive. They are jaw-droppingly amazing though!
Anonymous, 07 Aug 2017Z3 is a lot newer than s2Do you drop your phone? Or don't close the cap tights when playing with water? I had reading the user manual before use and nothing problems even my Z2 drop many many times and crashed by metal door deep impact recently, it still fine just the tempered glass need to replace.
Every phone manufacturer should just switch to amoled. The race is not even close.. its not even a race any more.
I am a big fan of oled display, the inky blacks and vibrant colours. and from past few years amoled tech had matured very well and.
Now I am very curious to know the feed back of iphone users, cause now iphone 8 will have an oled display. i have seen all of them criticize oled till date...... lol

amoled + always on display
this even question? of course oled
Anonymous, 07 Aug 2017As opposed to lcd light bleed, dead pixels, and dying backlight? So don't choose cheaper quality display. My monitor LCD doesn't have bleeding issue, maybe you are using a cheaper brand and only spend a little amount for smartphone. With high quality LCD doesn't have any bleeding problems, even Samsung LCD television doesn't bleeding, because it is make from high quality panels from Sharp and SHARP Sony.. are from JDI, they research quality display.

Alot of people choose amoled because they heard people say amoled is good and they also be like oh yeahh amoled is good than other, with good reason, people need to study more every display type have its pro and con, good and weakness ,thats why lcd is being still use widely, same like a car engine ,a normal aspirated and turbo type, person without knowledge certainly will choose turbo type because its generated alot power surely it will good, and say normal aspirated ia boring, both has pro and con,and thats why normal aspirated is widely being use than turbo type

Even my friend's last year S7 doesn't have a burn in.... Burn ins happen but not at the rate you exaggerated.
Anonymous, 07 Aug 2017Of course there is no mention about AMOLED burn-in in the article to keep people ignorant. ... moreAs opposed to lcd light bleed, dead pixels, and dying backlight?

Anonymous, 07 Aug 2017If you hold an iPhone 5 next to an art or s5 even s6 you notice the low quality of amoled. It ... moreI always prefer S6E for watching videos and movies as they look lot more colorful and pleasant than my iPhone 6s....Samsung's displays are always rated among the best. iPhone's screens are good but not as punchy or colorful as S6/7/8 or any other AMOLED. No one i knew migrated from Samsung to iPhone's just on the base of the screen. S6/7/8's screen beats iPhone's hands down.
Doesn't matter, as long as it has respectable accuracy, usability, and readability. And for some, results in cheaper phones.
Of course fanboys that care too much will tell me that I don't deserve a smartphone or something of the sort and my opinion is invalid.
You forgot to mention the Blacks. No matter how much the good quality LCD, blacks are not as dark as in the Amoleds. This quite irritates when watching movies, and as displays are getting bigger and bigger, this matters more than ever before.
It is no brainer, amoled has everything what consumer wants, punchy colours, most accurate colours, best contrast, best energy efficiency, best sunlight llegibility, best everything, why choose another panel? Obviously if you can't afford phone with amoled or you just really don't care about your screen as long as it shows info :)
His has been asked over and over again and always the same answer, AMOLED is the best there is!
The high contrast, perfect blacks and superior battery performance will always be on their side and that's why everyone eventually turn to the OLED side, now even LG and Apple
