I am a big fan of oled display, the inky blacks and vibrant colours. and from past few years amoled tech had matured very well and.
Now I am very curious to know the feed back of iphone users, cause now iphone 8 will have an oled display. i have seen all of them criticize oled till date...... lol

Anonymous, 07 Aug 2017As opposed to lcd light bleed, dead pixels, and dying backlight? So don't choose cheaper quality display. My monitor LCD doesn't have bleeding issue, maybe you are using a cheaper brand and only spend a little amount for smartphone. With high quality LCD doesn't have any bleeding problems, even Samsung LCD television doesn't bleeding, because it is make from high quality panels from Sharp and SHARP Sony.. are from JDI, they research quality display.

Alot of people choose amoled because they heard people say amoled is good and they also be like oh yeahh amoled is good than other, with good reason, people need to study more every display type have its pro and con, good and weakness ,thats why lcd is being still use widely, same like a car engine ,a normal aspirated and turbo type, person without knowledge certainly will choose turbo type because its generated alot power surely it will good, and say normal aspirated ia boring, both has pro and con,and thats why normal aspirated is widely being use than turbo type
AnonD-625430, 07 Aug 2017I'm using two phones, both have 5.5 inch Full HD Display but one has IPS LCD and the other one... moreIt's more than 2 years since i started using S6E, still no burn in.... Even my friend's last year S7 doesn't have a burn in.... Burn ins happen but not at the rate you exaggerated.

It ... moreI always prefer S6E for watching videos and movies as they look lot more colorful and pleasant than my iPhone 6s....Samsung's displays are always rated among the best. iPhone's screens are good but not as punchy or colorful as S6/7/8 or any other AMOLED. No one i knew migrated from Samsung to iPhone's just on the base of the screen. S6/7/8's screen beats iPhone's hands down.
Doesn't matter, as long as it has respectable accuracy, usability, and readability. And for some, results in cheaper phones.
Of course fanboys that care too much will tell me that I don't deserve a smartphone or something of the sort and my opinion is invalid.
You forgot to mention the Blacks. No matter how much the good quality LCD, blacks are not as dark as in the Amoleds. This quite irritates when watching movies, and as displays are getting bigger and bigger, this matters more than ever before.
It is no brainer, amoled has everything what consumer wants, punchy colours, most accurate colours, best contrast, best energy efficiency, best sunlight llegibility, best everything, why choose another panel? Obviously if you can't afford phone with amoled or you just really don't care about your screen as long as it shows info :)
His has been asked over and over again and always the same answer, AMOLED is the best there is!
The high contrast, perfect blacks and superior battery performance will always be on their side and that's why everyone eventually turn to the OLED side, now even LG and Apple

I have an iPad Pro and was using Sony phones, the iPhones, then switched to a Samsung phone purely due to OLED. I have a very hard time using the iPad and I could never go back to an LCD phone. There really isn't a contest, and I can understand why Apple is in a hurry to switch to OLED. Their LCDs, while decent for LCDs and well calibrated, really feel old school after using OLED. This comes from an Apple user also.
ProJames, 07 Aug 2017Because you've seen an ad about Sony phones? Where I live, those are non-existent. Exactly my point. the only ads i've seen if from youtube and facebook because I followed them. Other that than, its non-existent. The very reason they dont sell, because no one knows about them.
Samsung is using LCD in their top TVs due to not having enough large size OLED panel yields. LG is using OLED in their flagship TVs and year over year they are rated as the best TVs money can buy. I'm very happy where LG is going with their display lines. They are the only ones making OLED panels for TVs, and they also make the best IPS displays, that they are phasing out in favor of OLED. Too bad the paradox is real - they are still using LCD in their flagship phones :-(
Quantum Dot is just a fancy name for an efficiency update to LCD tech. It's still LCD, unfortunately.

And it's not like lcd is free of deaths and issues like more prone to uneven light and light bleed. Dead pixels. Backlight issues including wearing out and dying.
