Because we have such poor quality screens on phones? I think most because Batteries they saving it and putting very low consumption and some screens with issues and low quality screens. And screens making even bigger so need more power. I don't see this bad things on monitors or laptops because they have big batteries and didn't saving power much on screens. Something need change with batteries. And such years something changed at batteries technologys? And no one show attention on it. Because it just battery so bad looking worthless he didn't do anything. Don't look cool or do anything and are sealed in dark place somewhere in phone. Same damn Li-Ion who even explodes when phone are hot. Some phones becomes hot when heavy using.

And as usuall with the poll's "here",majority of votes came from Indian subcontinent... which means they beg for Amoled because 95% of users there never had a phone with good LCD.

I prefer none technology only truth in quality in many ways its not about obsesion or blind fanatism. Every mentioned technology (LCD Amoled, quantum dot) have their self disadvantages. First time I read Sony uses a lot year Quantum dot technology (because nowhere Sony mentionin. Only LG first time spead new quantum dot name with LG G4). I have worries read some Quantum dot have toxics effects for human health and some are even can change human DNA. About that read more here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_dot ("Health and safety" section) even read all sections. So I dont know Sony and LG Quantum dot technologies are safe for health and have any healt safety risks of these. Only manufacturers can confirm of what materials (and of their toxifity) they are creating theirs Quantum dot screens. I know a lot (most of them) of peoples don't care their health until their phones are not flaming or not electritc shocking. But phones changing yours cells DNA is also important thing. (yea well I dont see them so I dont care them like DNR. Sure I'm joking). Also Amoled have Burn in and discaloration washed out one tinted colors (mine is now more yellow (yey I like yellow, really)). But diferense is now amoled not equal brightness in screen when burning in and because screens pixel size are not exual so light source are not equal (smallest pixels are greens, then reds, and biggest are blue). Also differense Amoled now is rhey equaly buning in so no much disctation with naked eye, but you have less and less pixels by years, even if you have qhd displays. About burn in you can see most difference in status bar because most of them are blacks so after year you can see in full white page status bar have more pixels you see discalorations base are and status bar area, so its not good who use screen more than year they have less and less pixels. So now I think are best screen technology MicroLED with CrycalMircoLED which basic are crystals who don't burn in. I like Amoled because most they have QHD and they screens are pimped with oversaturated colors. Yes this is tuning potential showing. Amoled is young technology and they have potential which didn't use corectly like with oversaturated colors, oversaturated colors would solve different content screen profiles like in Sony, for bad screen tint fix fulllight ambient sensor for auto white balanse color calibrating. C'mon make good screens someone I just see today manufacturers want grab yours moneys and have no inteligense or initiative for investing for inovations and tech specialists reserchs, yea just make new patent and maybe my grandsons will se new. It's tech is in really high tech stagnation for making money taking you just new gimmicks. We asleept too much in tech wold. In future chinsese will take markets and you see theirs technology in latest flagships 2-3 years because we are too dump and us fooling. Soon we even forget taste about new features. And tech nerds only will wait they see how their amoled's buns in from 4K to HD or 720p when manufacturers only throw bone and rise costs. Sure I'm like Nokia man who see new innovations was beraked every year, now tech evokution making slower and slower. Do we to accept it? NO. I paying buch money to make me happy not because I need new phone every year just because... is this year phone. If Jobs would be like he would dead if he see this tech stagnation and new tech gimmicks. Hes tech inovations was Jumping very high and with new tech niches so you see something new alsmost every year like in Nokia. So why they like for peoples very much. About screens, yes everythings is about tech quality and features. So thumbs up for MicroLED based crystals.

IPS screens are nice and all, and they dont suffer from burn in,(which I see on so many sad devices), but AMOLEDs consume less power, have better colors, allow for stuff like the always on display, and can be used in so many cool ways like bending, flexing, and making completely transparent. Plus it sounds cooler...

LCD but not the ones LG uses with image retention that my G5 suffers from. Everything on my G5 is in black or white backgrounds now with plain black wallpaper for the home screen and black wallpaper that says Android for the lock screen. Ghosting is annoying af. And any LCD without bad viewing angles.

FYI, superAMOLED saves up more battery life than other screen type.

I want an amoled screen, but because of the price range and the spec of the phone it self i choose lcd in this case at indonesia a5 2017 and zenfone 3 5.5 are the same price but at asus you can get more specs and feature

Even if you want to order online, most people from developed countries come to a shop or carrier just to see and test device X to make up his mind. And without the notoriety of brands like Samsung, LG or OnePlus, it's very hard to blindly choose them.

I kind of like more a good quality IPS LCD over AMOLED, but mostly is because i hate the Pentile subpixel arrangement.
But it´s worth mentioning thaht not all amoled displays are pentile (LG G Flex, Samsung Galaxy S1,S2,Note II, those use standard RGB layout) and also there are some LCD scren with pentile (Samsung Galaxy Camera, HTC One S and some Motorola older devices, in this case RGBW, replacing some colors with white)
