Samsung and apple have massive advertising campaigns and as well as offerring soild performing phones and that's why they tend to overshadow other companies who have equally solid or even arguably better phones.

Really liked my U11. Had to return it because of inconsistent backlighting on the LCD. Pretty annoying having one side of the screen darker then the other.

Atleast they tried to add something new which sounded cool. I haven't tested it in real life, so don't know how that frame works in real life.

1. If you don't have absolutely best Android phone, you are screwed.
2. If you don't have absolutely best Android phone and you also can't compete with prices, you are screwed.
It's very simple, i don't even read the comments, but i guess there's all kind of comments about missing this and this feature, None of them matter in big picture. Android market is just so competitive there's not much sales left for invidual companies. Big companies except Samsung can't keep up with those chinese companies.

HTC does a lot of weird decisions and their top U series phones lack durability and full of gimmicks, like squeezable frame, doesn't not add to much confident into company

They fixed what: The weak cameras
They removed what: The exceptional audio hardware
With the bezels of the U 11, I don't see any reason for it to not have dual front stereo speakers and large camera sensor (10 even has larger main camera sensor than 11, wtf?)

HTC do extremes and 180 degree... moreThe camera hype on this site about the M8 was enough to make me buy one of them and after regretting that choice for a year, I finally got the device sold for some small change compared to the original price... The worst purchase decision for the last 5 years for me personally. Nothing backed up the high price. The newer HTC's are better as far as I've heard, but I guess nobody really cares anymore.

HTC was at its best when they were the under the radar brand by going about there things by being 'quietly brilliant'. Then it changed to 'here's to change' just for the sake of it where they decided they wanted to be seen as 'premium brand'. Even now the price for the phones is high, when there are far better alternatives elsewhere.

Batteries have always been HTC's achilles heel and either they don't seem to care or do anything about it.

If i might add to your comment, i think htc have ego problem. Like you said things are changing and moving faster than it ever did. htc need to start pricing competitively with smaller brands out there in china. Maybe not exactly same as the Chinese, but something much lower than they are asking for at the moment.
htc haven't really done anything of note in tech history except few well made cell phones, to the best of my knowledge, so i can't see why they won't humble themselves and start picking up the little pieces then hopefully in the near future, start making tangible profit. Personally, i can forgive sony, knowing there accomplishments and achievements over the ages in tech world but not htc.
With that said, htc appears to me that there problem is beyond being competitive, wrong foundation i will say. I think htc shall disappear in a few years, just like many.

HTC have become a niche brand these days. Anyone remembering the glory days of the M7 will understand why. They focus on silly gimmicks now instead of the things people really want. As someone who used to love HTC it's a sad situation.

HTC do extremes and 180 degrees. For example, M8 should have been a great success if HTC had done what a normal company would do after seeing the reviews of the m7. The 4MP camera was the only thing that held the m7 back from being the best phone the year it was released. HTC should have fixed that in the m8 but no, they decided to push on. Honestly, I cannot understand that decision.

Htc 10 and htc u11 are simply awesome. But people are afraid to put huge margin as they can find quality issues in lower/midrange device.
Don't know who is giving idea to use outdated hardware for huge price. Simple things matters.
Basic requirements :
Dual sim
Sd card support
Better low light front and rear camera since we can't take camera everywhere
Good battery
Look and feel(l personally like htc flagship look than other since M7except M9 ugly rear camera)
