Whats the point of releasing a new version of the OS if majority of the users cant even use the latest version??? This isnt about ios or android, if users cannot use the latest security and features for their phone and majority of the mid range phones will not be upgraded out of the box, then whats the point of releasing new versions every year if older mid range phones cant upgrade. Not all people can afford flagship phones. Google needs to step up their upgrade policy, at least they should force OEM to release it together when they release the final version formtheir pixel units. OEM has the chance to tweak the beta os since its release to the public, i think thats a lot of time to incorporate their mods on the beta version
AnonD-1825, 09 Aug 2017Before they fix this huge fragmentation problem i would never even think buying Android device... moreAs for fragmentation, just get something with a standard display resolution such as 1080x1920 and something that isn't built from obscure components. Not too hard.
As for learning new tricks, good thing is that even if the OS doesn't get updates, the apps do. So, if the user doesn't do crazy illegal stuff, it's all good.
I remember borrowing an ancient iPhone 3G and I couldn't even open the App Store properly, it was so slow, couldn't install anything, and I had to work around (luckily it was jailbroken) just to get Opera Mini in it. Equally old Android or even Symbian - no problem, you can still get some apps for them and keep using the phone.
laggdroids, 09 Aug 2017n then you shell out cash on expensive phones that even hardly gets it worthy updates not more... moreI prefer to use good device from the box with everything i need, then getting things i need after 2-3 years using my device.
Or you just like to update your device even if there is nothing in update? Windows 10 is perfect for you then, you will also have a new feature called "reinstall" you can mess with.
Marshmallow. apk
Nougat. apk
Oreo.apk
Updates. rar

And who cares? There's like over hundred Android companies doing stuffs, always someone is "copying" someone. Its called natural progress, end of the day mostly all the companies have same ideas and direction where the industry is going.

TheHater, 09 Aug 2017Except Androids already have the features that your iPhone will get 10 years from now.I don't expect iPhones to be as feature laden and user friendly in 10 years as even Marshmallow based Android phones today
- iPhone 6s user (never again)

Beauty of buying gadget is that after years it can still learn new tricks and gives even more value for your money.

I partly blame this on manufacturer launching budget phone and midrange phone in older version of android. Like seriously, WHY? WHY? I dont get it. Android is free. Why put old version in new phone? Budget phone deserve latest version too.

Lollipop 5.1.1 for glory. Nougat is deep shit.
Marshmallow is minor updated lollipop. Kitkat is my love. I am starting to miss 2014-2015. Kitkat forever. I don't wanna know how android would be in 2020. Probably 32gb of ram not enough . We'll see. 16% still on kitkat. Thumbs up for them
majority of the android devices are yet on Android 6 distribution list. this is the reason i chose iphone. if not the latest hardware, atleast my old hardware gets the new OS rather thab the new hardware remaining on old OS
Too much competition leads to new updates
