AnonD-685827, 10 Aug 2017Most of you have misread the article I believe. They are not talking about smaller sensor but ... moreSince G6 has small sensor, it'ts very likely that V30 will have the same. V series always follows the G series in hardware wise.
As a secondary camera, only the zoom camera is useful. The wide angle and monochrome camera are useless.
But a single good camera is better than two mediocre.
Most of you have misread the article I believe. They are not talking about smaller sensor but a smaller rear camera module. Meaning, the space the whole dual camera setup takes is smaller than it used to be on the V20. I actually believe they will put a bigger sensor than before and with the brighter aperture, we might have a real treat on our hands. If LG don't do something really stupid (like V30 having a full curved screen and not the 2.5D one), this will be the best phone of 2017 so far. Unfortunately, Note8 which was supposed to be my next phone, sucks hard design wise. I can't believe how stubborn Samsung are with the fingerprint sensor location and the fully curved screen. Also, they are probably going for a secondary zoom camera and IMO wide angle and monochrome cameras are much more useful

Wow! Didn't expect this from LG. They've been good with post image processing. With the new technologies, their images should beat the competition. They only need to take care of color accuracy though, for those who this would matter.
For general audience, just the noise reduction and improved low light photography would be more than just satisfactory. Color accuracy shouldn't be a deal breaker in the age of snapchat and Instagram filters.
Anonymous, 10 Aug 2017So, do you believe U11 dxomark review? If yes, there will be double standard...I believe in samples, users do in their own blogs. But mostly, I get them via GSMArena. Know, the site we're writing at :). Or 4PDA. Or researching weeks via Google to compare and decide, if the results are legit and acceptable for me.
Widest aperture on 1/3"? Apple play it seems.
MickyFoley, 10 Aug 2017Wait for bought reviews? Nope, thanks.So, do you believe U11 dxomark review?
If yes, there will be double standard...
AnonD-505364, 10 Aug 2017Are you serious?! Bigger sensors are always better
AnonD-114814, 10 Aug 2017f/1.6 vs f/1.8 is a third of a stop difference, so that 33% more light , not 25%, . pretty ... moreYour maths is wrong.
1. (1.8/1.6)² ≈ 1.26 => 26% more light per unit area
2. Yes, f/1.6 is 1/3 stop faster than f/1.8 , that's [(√2)^(1/3)]² ≈ 1.26 => 26% more light per unit area
LG superfan, 10 Aug 2017People are mistaking smaller module for a small sensorYes. Too many people are too presumptuous.
AnonD-505364, 10 Aug 2017Are you serious?! He/She is completely right. If the sensor is small, even f/0.9 would be useless. That's just physics. It does not make any sense to speak about f-numbers as long as the sensor size is not known, that's just marketing because the people don't know anything about this. For instance if it's a 1/4" sensor and a f/1.6 lens, then this is equivalent to a f/2.5 lens on a 1/2.55" sensor.
A f/1.6 lens is useless when the sensor is small. If the V30 has the same sensor size as the V20 (1/2.8" sensor), then a f/1.6 lens would be still just equivalent to a f/1.75 lens on a 1/2.55" sensor. It's also possible that f/1.6 lens means actually a f/1.65 lens, so then the equivalent aperture on a 1/2.55" sensor would be f/1.8. So it's not the largest aperture. The smartphone with the largest full frame equivalent aperture is the Panasonic Cm-1, namely f/7.7 . The Lumia 1020 has f/9.3, the HTC U Ultra (nearly 1/2" sensor) has ≈ f/9.6 , the Galaxy S8 has f/10.2 , the HTC U11 (f/1.75) has an equivalent aperture of f/10.5 , the Pixel has f/10.8 , the iphone 7 has f/12.4, the LG G6 has f/13, the Huawei P9 has f/15, the front camera of the Moto C Plus has f/58
AnonD-51100, 10 Aug 2017Waiting voor the results on DxOMark ...Wait for bought reviews? Nope, thanks.
Even the v20 had a 1/2.6" sensor size @ 29mm and 1/3.2" sensor size @ 12mm for the second camera. I highly doubt, they'd go backwards with the V30. Keep being patient and wait for reviews and real specs proven by iFixit and others.
Hopefully this turns out to be good unlike G6 which seemed like a downgrade from g5.
Waiting voor the results on DxOMark ...
I wanna same spec...SoC, camera etc. but with 4,7-5 inches.
