They missed the mark. They were great in the 2 era where they put out awesome phones at entry level prices. I understand them trying to up the quality with Zenfone 3 and it was a respectable attempt at the start of the cycle. But these new 4 phones are incredibly mediocre in both performance and value.
Go back to doing awesome entry level phones again.

Asus is just hopeless. Prestige pricing for mediocre specs in a phone only works with Apple and Samsung. I'm not sure how it is going to survive the competition. Pricing reminds me of the $699 flagship pricing of the Zenfone 3 ultra which has a 1080p screen, snapdragon 652 and 64gb internal memory.

-Better battery life
-Top class QHD and exceptional 4K HDR display, respectively
-superior camera systems (one that can do incredible video audio recording & low light stills and the other that captures motion with no blur and slower the real life 40x)
If you find the SD630 to be worth $400, knowing the Mi 6 costs $300 with SD835, and the OnePlus 5 for $500 with SD835, then I guess you'll be fine for paying $1000 for an iPhone 5s 16GB in 2017.

Zenfone 4 Max 5.5 inch is 2.8 M Rupiah / 250 Euro. Zenfone 4 price might be 5.6 M Rupiah / 500 Euro. OnePlus 5 price is 7-8 M Rupiah here.

Ahong Surahong, 10 Aug 2017For that price at least they should come with SD660.Agree with you. The Zenfone 3 zoom is a better buy compared to this. SD 625 with better camera (dual 13MP), and a generous 5000mAH battery.
And for €500, Samsung Galaxy C9 pro with SD 653 & 4000 mAH battery is a though competitor for Asus to beat.

Snapdragon 425 is marginally better over Previous Zenfone Max's 6737M and it's really outdated.
Snap 430 is the minimum for a smartphone in 2017.
