That's a good thing i too have 5310 and i just use it for making calls, listening music, sometimes i surf web but i use computer to surf the net, play games, discover new mobiles and getting impressed by that. When i reach 19 years i am going to get a nice high end nokia WP8 mobile till then i have to study.
I'm really impressed by todays standards, but...I only make calls, I have an iPod Touch for multimedia entertainment and my laptop for a real web surfing experience, is nice see new and powerful phones, but I'm not on that train. I don't like beign manipulated by them, every time they launch a new version of any OS I don't go for it...I dont bite that so easy.
The Boy with Red Hat, 22 May 2011Is not progress my friend...is business or marketing That's different to progress or innova... moreIf Android didn't come along then we will be stuck with Nokia and it's 680 MHz phones right now. Android brought progress in the smartphone industry and some companies like Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Sony and many others capitalized on it. Nokia got left behind because they are slow in making progress and now, they realized that they are failing so bad, they need dump Symbian and go WP just to be able to compete. That's the truth on why they are going WP.

If it's as simple as you suggested then why can't No... morestill nokia didn't make the update for that doen't means that they are not concentrating on quality but just that they are more busy in making WP7 or WP8 mobiles. you may know that nokia had kicked 4000 employees of symbian that might be the cause

That's different to progress or innova... moreOn nokias side, the resale valuo of nokia is very high, you still see in eBay prices of the 5800 or even 5530 very high and are old phones but very capable...nokia has the biggest resale value on phone market.
Motorola, LG and Sony besides has very low resale values...
Gurushant, 22 May 2011first let me clear one point for you i.e the purple screen defect is not really an defect. Its... moreIt is a defect and Nokia acknowledged it. If it's as simple as you suggested then why can't Nokia issue a patch to fix the light sensor? It's not just the sensor alone, the calibration of the colors of the screen is also at fault. What you suggested is not really a fix but a poor patch-up solution to hide the defect. It won't fix the defect, you know it's still there and that app will just make it less noticeable.

That's different to progress or innovation, I see business here and not benefits for final user...
Waht you need to do with the phone, basically is for make calls...if you need more power better get a laptop or netbook, but I don't see innovations just improvements...
The Ex-Nokia Fanboy, 22 May 2011The SGS II doesn't feel like a toy. A year from now, the resale value of SGS II will still be ... morefirst let me clear one point for you i.e the purple screen defect is not really an defect. Its the problem of light sensor, if you get an app called "Brightness control" and set to level 4 i can surely say that purple tint will be gone (90%) and about the resale value, do u know that its an one year old mobile????? and i think you don't know anything about market i thought you were good in that. I will tell you that mobiles rate goes on decreasing due to the new technologies that are coming in the market n8 was good in 2010 but now SGS II is good in 2011 so n8's price going down and also no one is intersted in having old symbian. that's why n8's price going down. Just wait for a year and you'll see that sgs II prices would also collapse when samsung comes with 2ghz processor and sgs II would have no value just wait and see
Gurushant, 22 May 2011"The SGS II is far from being crappy" we will see it in coming years may be after 2 ... moreIndia is not the world. The world is much bigger than India my friend. A good smartphone must perform great on all aspects and not just on camera performance alone and the SGS II provides the best features on all aspects. You talk about quality, well, just to let you know that the best Nokia device right now, the N8 have the purple screen problem. Now that's crappy quality control on Nokia's part and Nokia still don't have a solution to this problem even though it's been 5 months now that they knew about the defect. The SGS II will never be crappy, it will be outdated when the likes of quad core Androids comes out. That is progress my friend and in Android's world, progress is at break-neck speeds.
In the crappy side maybe you're right.
Android needs every update more power...so todays specs od SG2 may be will run slow and lagging with a newer Android versions...
Nokia don't have that problem, either Apple OS.
Maybe that will be the meaning of "crap", and there is no warantee Galaxie 2 can run smooth next gen Androids, that's the nature of Android OS, I used to have an MB200 and now is totally useless since is not fully compatible with 2.3 and had to inves in a new one? I don't think so!
But, If I don't do it I'm out of updates and goodies only for 2.3 and on....since is totally incompatible with newer Android Versions...and If I get one it wil run very sloow and "crappy" with a lots of lags...
Gurushant, 22 May 2011I didn't said that now SGS II is crappy phone i just said that it "WILL" become cra... moreThe SGS II doesn't feel like a toy. A year from now, the resale value of SGS II will still be high but can you say the same thing with the N8? You'll be lucky to be able to sell your N8 at all now that the public knows about the purple screen defect of the N8. You won't even get 50% of the original price you paid for such a handset with a known defect and the defect affects the majority of N8's on the wild. Like seriously, who in their right mind would buy a second hand defective phone?

Be honest and tell me is SGS II a quality phone???? Is SGS II got a good camera than N8???? to cover up all these aspects the CPU, GPU, RAM should be lowered and not every customer wants more CPU,RAM,GPU only customers like us needs it. Customers like my dad needs good design, quality products etc., and India is the largest growing mobile industry you may know it and to fulfill the need of India it should concentrate on quality, camera, Screen, etc cuz in india no one care whats the cpu clock!!! ya right many people in india are uneducated about the mobiles they just see the look of the mobile as well as the camera it has got. If you bring an iphone or SGS II in towns of india people will laugh on you cuz acc. to them you can get other good mobiles in that price range I hope you got some points about the people of India... and i also hope that you got my point
The Ex-Nokia Fanboy, 22 May 2011The SGS II is far from being crappy. Nokia is talking about using dual cores next year while Q... moreWell quad is not always better.
I see Atrix and other phones lagging bad against other phones.
The problem is Android becomes more hunger every time there's an upgrade, and this road track can be painfull for too many users pocket.
Nokias don't need that kind of power since they are very steady with their OS. This means no need to upgrade hardware so bad like with android...
Even Apple OS don't need that, thats why they don't launch an more powerfull phones, they have the resourses and money for that, but they simply don't need it and is a bad side either, this means Android is very power hunger, and that is no a good sign, more power means less battery and many other...
I like Androids but every time there's an update I had to trash my beloved phone to kee running this OS smootly :(
Gurushant, 21 May 2011Ya ace is crappy and sgs II will soon also become crappy once if nokia comes with WM8 phone wi... moreThe SGS II is far from being crappy. Nokia is talking about using dual cores next year while Quad Core Androids are coming out this fall if the rumors are true. NVIDIA have quads ready for this fall and we might see some quad core Androids this fall, this year and the price of the SGS II will drop.
If Nokia won't have quads next year then they will be behind the technology curve again even with WP as their OS. The quad Androids are just around the corner.
SmartphonFreakKARTIK, 21 May 2011i dont agree abt gs2 being crappy.......its really gud, check out youtube.......screen = super... moreI didn't said that now SGS II is crappy phone i just said that it "WILL" become crappy in coming years. I'll tell one strange policy in android mobiles: If 1ghz processor mobile is popular today and if tomorrow 2ghz processor mobile comes then there will be no value for 1ghz processor mobile this theory applies only to android and not Symbian. Most of the Android mobiles can only be differentiated on the basis of CPU and RAM and nothing more else (Except SGS II though it as an exceptional). What i mean is that if samsung or other brand comes with a new faster processor than this than, SGS II or any other popular android mobile may be out of the game but that's not the case with nokia mobiles because Nokia doesn't give priority to CPU and RAM it just gives priority to Innovative designs, camera, quality, support etc., Just look at N8 its the only mobile in the history to survive in top 3 daily interest for more than a year. And i can surely say that SGS II won't survive for much more days. Nokia mobiles have good designs and good camera in the budget price look at X7 isn't it awesome or look at C6-01 it gets 8mpix cam or look at N8 it has got 28mm wide carl zeiss 12mpix cam which is the largest sensor yet on a mobile. They will surely survive longer but look at other android mobiles they give priority to CPU, RAM, GPU but soon another mobile comes with faster CPU, GPU, RAM and the old one gets out! Because they have not got good designs and other features (Bluetooth 3.0, HDMI, USB On the go, Rich camera) and just see the design and quality of SGS II it just feels like an toy in hand and its not pockeatable. I hope you got my point
