Think those c shaped bits on the sides are antenna bands, and maybe that stripe on the back?
Seems confirmed back and sides are a single metal panel.

Phone beauty is subjective, if relevant at all to some.
But... ergonomics is not. Those sharp corners are NOT acceptable, and I have scar tissues to prove it from the XZ.
Granted, some people would hold the phone in a way that the corners are irrelevant, but if the corner where a bit round, both camps would be happy.
The Xperia X was perfect in ergonomics, and "personally, I think " it looked better.
Also, sharp corners=very easy to dent and scratch at those corners, so a case becomes all the more necessary (which many do still hate to use)

I like sony smartphones, i really do. I have a z5 and i love it. BUT, we are in 2017, and Sony keeps on making phones with bigger bezels than their previous models.
My z5 is 146mm, and xz1 is rumoured to be 146,8mm? why is Sony keeps on doing this? Especially in an era of bezeless phones.
I do get that they have their own design language but they could at least make it 144mm.. show some progress. And a camera hump? Really Sony? Take a look at your Z series then go back to designing your next phone.

I nearly bought a compact once. They do a nice job on some of their products. Displays are beautiful. Stylish. Look forward to better images.

New Sony phones do look beautiful and classy, they just stand out from the rest of the bunch.
But that 3D creator new thingie and extra sensor besides nfc interests me more, what are those?

but actualy it doesnt. when we drive a car, the bumper always receives impact first during accident. thats why cars need bumper.
phone is very different. when we drop our phone, any parts of its body have the same probability to hit the floor first. if we are very lucky, the bezel hits floor first. in most cases.. the screen or the back hits floor first.

XZ Premium has a nice design on its own, and you'll only be noticing its different design when you put it side-by-side to a different phone - you do that all the time, don't you?
I can slap those bezels on you along with its class-leading stereo sounding speakers and one of the best front camera from a flagship device.

asep, 16 Aug 2017more bezel more protection to the screen?? hell no!!! i have a sony Z3 two years ago, the scre... more*cough* my XPERIA XZ dropped from 2 floors above playground upstairs after accidentally slipping it and there is no crack. And since I have a case (But doesn't protects the front of the screen), there is no crack at all. Fyi, I never apply a screen protector yet on my smartphone

-superior drop resistance of the screen panel
If those things aren't enough justifications for you, I just don't know what.
'Cause iPhones also have large bezels but I don't see anyone complaining about them as much as they do on Sony phones, which actually serves great practical purposes.
