AnonD-244675, 16 Aug 2017Theory is wrong. Simple math, really. It's area of intended surface divided by overall surf... moreI know that simple probability is invalid for this case as the areas of surfaces are unequal but still its a way of putting things crudely imagining a situation where the phones falls with at least perfectly parallel to one of its surface. In reality that is not the case as the chances of a bit inclination are very high and that makes bezels all the more important.
Sony phones get hotter than frying pan. Hope sony figures that issue out.
[deleted post] I used to be a Sony fan. Still use and buy some of their products. However, I am no fanboy/fangirl.
Next topic: bezels. Bezels are are dying breed. If Sony doesn't adapt their mobile division will become extinct. Regardless, I have little doubt that Sony will release any number of tiny bezel handsets next year. Give Sony a break you guys. Remember, they don't have the marketing muscle that companies like Samsung, Apple, and LG have. Sony claims to sell just over 3 million phones a year. This year alone the Galaxy S8 duo have sold over 23 million units, and the year isn't over. Sony doesn't have the same finances as larger corporate entities. They still try like hell to provide consumers products that are original. I give them credit. Personally, I don't own a Sony phone. Will I get one in the future? You never know. Goodbyes for now all *_* .
AnonD-647900, 17 Aug 2017Barely, at least those companies make attractive phones with fluid design. It's just like how prose is to tackle the intellect while poetry for the emotion.
It doesn't make an OEM better when they have a more attractive design (to most, not all).
I am attracted to this device more than anything else (honest opinion of mine) but I can't claim it as a better phone over the others, when there are several aspects more to consider.
Like the usual saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover."
To translate it on smartphones, "Don't judge a phone by its design."
AnonD-402029, 17 Aug 2017Post title: New leak reveals Sony Xperia XZ1 from all angles
but all the comment here full ... moreLet the keyboard warriors a.k.a. anti-Sony republic to speak.
It gets funnier when their claims become more false, like one who said Sony's going down in 2017 - turned out to sell quite well the XZ Premium.
[deleted post]Of what? What are you getting at?
Like most things some probably do and some probably dont. Or they have some shared and some not shared things.
Anonymous, 17 Aug 2017Saying this one looks boring is like saying a Lexus looks too sleek... Sorry buddy, but these ... moreActually the curve is more ergonomic. Therefore more comfortable.
How useful it is to use in your opinion is entirely a separate issue. So dont blend and lie to mke your point.
Just like the initial edge device was actually useful, some content does look neat on it, and its paving way for futur tech. Even if for now its just for comfort and aesthetics rsther than being really useful.
None of that means gimmick. And the more you say it the more others say the same thing about exaggerated eis claims, 960fps slow mo, and 4k on mobiles.
But its all just a bunch of whining from both sides. Grow up
I m very big fan Sony smartphone but Sony why not launch mobile display size 5.5 inch every smartphone 5. Sand 5.2 maximum and 6. Inch very big nd no change mobile look every phone square angel please change look
Saying this one looks boring is like saying a Lexus looks too sleek... Sorry buddy, but these are still some of the best phones for us that like phones ti be reliable and standard (not curved and uncomfterable gimmicky screens).
all these garbage comments and no one talks about the actual phone.
1.) The volume rocker was moved above the side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
2.) And it has an HDR display, which is only currently present in XZ Premium, so if you want hdr display on a smaller screen this would be it.
3.) They also solved the ugliness in the back by putting the antenna bands in the sides. It's like a tribal mark tho.
4.) and Finally, the NFC is now in the back again (same as the Z series)
5.) i don't think there's a camera bump, but the flash was moved to the center along with the nfc
What is not great tho is aside from the asymmetrical bezels (accounted for the camera on the back probably, along with nfc module), is the fact that they still have sharp corners.
I was a Sony fan until they were with Ericsson.
The designs of the last gen Sony Ericsson phones were so elegant and cool.
Now they just manufacture glass bricks.
Nzi97, 16 Aug 2017Samsung had no use on the bezel, so they extend the screen to mask it(hence the weird 18:9.som... moreas sony fanboys we can no longer make any excuses for sony. Sony was ahead of its time when the Z2 and the Z3 came out.
Now its a different world it has to innovate in a lot things one of those being design. It has to stand out from the crowd and the s8 has put on the bezeless trend. Sony needs to change something to stand out.
Nothing is really standout about this XZ1. and I bet you once the pixel 2 comes out will destroy sony at its own game with superior software for its camera. The pixel was already amazing imagine the pixel 2. and its rumored to have dual front facing speakers with bezeless design making
Next year before CES 2018, Sony is gonna refresh its phone. If the 2018 flagship still has thick bezels, it's game over for Xperia!
Mike, 17 Aug 2017Sony does the right way, keep the simple phone style and no need to take an edge screen phone ... moreBut but ... no one buys your phone when you have huge bezels. It's all about the looks nowadays. I know it's pathetic but it's the society that we live in.
Sony does the right way, keep the simple phone style and no need to take an edge screen phone because it is absolutely looks awful and not good when applying the screen protector on the screen. And no need to put dual cameras. Just keep one is Great and handsome awesome looks than dual cameras phone. I love your style. Simple is better, but must make a really really strong Smart Phone. Be careful of your system and hardware. Love You Sony.
