Anonymous, 16 Aug 2017He means source code, for developping drivers and be able to update OS for most of manufacture... moreThis is a lie, all am using a mediatek 6753 powered device and I have received nougat update and some firmware updates.
If a phone company doesn't update their phone then don't blame mediatek.
Am receiving updates here with mine.

AnonD-625924, 16 Aug 2017Source for what exactly? He means source code, for developping drivers and be able to update OS for most of manufacturers / rom modders.
Mediatek doesn't share them usually so that's why most of "mediatek phones" aren't updated to next OS versions. Custom roms are instable or not optimal when changing OS versions too if available.

AceShot, 16 Aug 2017Finally if is true and is clocked at 1.5Ghz that means my teory is confirmed. Nobody needs 2Gh... moreTotally wrong. Nobody needs 8 cores as most of the time, only 1 is working, but higher Hz really increases speed. But after all, die size matters the most as IPC results out of it and manufacturers only make them smaller to save money

Finally if is true and is clocked at 1.5Ghz that means my teory is confirmed. Nobody needs 2Ghz Processors they only drain battery faster and 1.5 can do everything that 2.0Ghz can with same speed.

Anything Mediatek related won't be real news until they start releasing sources for their chips.
