Romie Lee, 21 Aug 2017Me too, I only prefers Apple and Samsung. Waiting for other brands to break my royalty through... moreGood luck with your latest Samsung phone. It'll slow down, burn its LED out, and wear its battery out in a few months.
The upcoming iPhone looks good though.

Zenodroid, 21 Aug 2017Name one phone not made in Asia. Please. Xperia Xz Premium, made in Thailand.
L0lip0p, 24 Aug 2017In that case, the 18:9 is gimmick that is make for promo so the phone look good and futuristic... more1440p should never have become a phone standard, its a ridiculously high resolution for a ti y screen amd is just a battery and money waster. Dual cam could be amazing if implemented correctly, and in my opinion actually moves phone tech forward. (the pixel is fantastic because it combines photos to remove noise. Imagine if it had twice the images!) Adding squeeze tech and an even higher resolution screen? I dont see how it helps with innovation. All it does is add things. A 4k screen would be good for VR, but sony doesn't have a phone headset so its completely useless. Squeeze functions might make a positive difference for users, but do we really need it? Is it that much harder to just tap the screen?
Really what Nokia needs is something marketable. Maybe they do need gimmick, I don't know. But I know that the Nokia 8 simply doesn't have that something to.make it stand out.

Because it barely any sharper than FHD (411ppi vs 501ppi) and the fact that scallig is akward(1 pixel = 2 pixel)
Everything is gimmick when it come to feature, but as always, gimmick will be labeled as must have feature, especially when big brand adopt it
Exp:waterproofing, glass design, etc

Can't justify that aren't you
Anonymous, 20 Aug 2017Your talking about SONY and HTC in a way forgetting that they brought the best 2 phones in 201... moreThat wasnt my point. Pretty much every phone that comes out now is excellent. Its about what they can.do to make consumers buy them. The problem with the XZ premium and the U11 is that they both rely on gimicky features that change real life use very little. The 4k screen is definitely a WOW factor, atleast on the spec sheet, but once you see the screen your probably going to notice that you can see almost no difference in terms of sharpness at that screen size between the 1080p iphone 6+ screen and the 4k one on the sony. As for HTC, the U11 is a very good phone, and it in many ways rivals the S8, but it is simply not enough to make you or another consumer get it no matter what. Theres a reason HTC continues to post operating losses. Im not against sony or HTC at all, actually i write this from my HTC 10, but i just cant see what it would be that would differentiate any of these phones from the pack. A great phone is a great phone, yes, but the market is over saturated with great phones. To get somewhere now you need something new.
I love my 6, and it proves to me that this new "Nokia" can make great devices and do the right thing with software (mostly), but I would hesitate to say nokia is back. This is a whole different thing and while I feel the core values are mostly the same, it's not the same teams, it's not the same talent working on these products, so the end result is different. Ex. thecustom camera app which imo is pretty bad - no real manual controls at all? Come on. I miss lumia camera.
I'm still hoping for a slightly higher resolution image sensor and smaller bezels on a nokia 9, and maybe some camera app improvements. Then maybe I'd consider nokia "back."But until then, I'd just say it's reborn, which honestly isn't such a bad thing.

U should know even the old nokia not make all their phone in finland. They have manufacture facility all over the world like in hungary/india/vietnam and off course china. And still its good and reliable one. Why u so disturbed about it ??
AnonD-34062, 21 Aug 2017Where did you get this info from? What info? It's public knowledge? Nokia is just a trademark that is licensed by HMD (ex-Microsoft Mobile), a "Finnish-led" Chinese company. Manufacturing is outsourced to Foxconn/FIH.
I'm not saying this is a bad thing per se, but it's misleading to say these are "Nokia phones". They're not built in Finland, they're not Finnish, they probably don't even pay taxes to Finland. They do have an HQ in Espoo, Finland, next to Nokia's old HQ.
I owned some Nokias way back when... The candybar phones were nice. (Though Sony Ericsson came to equal or surpass Nokia with the candybar styles, in my humble opinion).
My last Nokia phone was the e61i http://m.gsmarena.com/nokia_e61i-1858.php before the Microsoft partnership. It was absolutely amazing. Steel construction. Indestructible. Battery life for days. Best speaker phone ever.
They always had a very European and Scandinavian "functional" design philosophy. I would love for them to bring that back. Windows phones retained some of that style, and I liked the design of the Lumia camera phones especially, but I couldn't leave my Android ecosystem for it. When they bring back an industrial design language like the olden days I will say they are "back". Until then I'll hold my breath and wait.

Brainy, 21 Aug 2017Most of u Nokia fanboys ALWAYS says that "specs are not everything!"
So, let's look from that... moreFirst u complain about pricing and specs. Now u pointing about nokia fan that talk about "specs are not everything" ??
Feels bothered with nokia 8 ?
If u dont like this phone.. there is plenty phone on the market and u can choose one as your liking prefence.
Is it a product of Nokia Corporation?
No! Then it's not a Nokia.
If the specs are up to par I may buy one. Can't be worse than the Huewai P9 I have that's been neutered by crap software.
Given it runs stock Android it's a winner as is.
