AnonD-521587, 21 Aug 2017its likely to have a good camera but i agree it doesnt quite fee like a nokia. And they dont h... morewell i think they have clearblack but it has no name cz microsoft patent, but i dunno about pureview as its probably cz microsoft patent but we have amazing audio with Nokia OZO and Zeiss lens!
Not yet, maybe later, let HMD first grab some experience and market first is to early to pick them yet
No.Nokia's not back, and the press playing up to it for cash don't help. This is a start up company called h m d, not Nokia. "nn" iiiiiiits not...nokia.
Yann, 21 Aug 2017Bezels and HDR screen are not deal breaker for me, but few things are missing from old Nokia f... moreits likely to have a good camera but i agree it doesnt quite fee like a nokia. And they dont have clearblack and pureview because not all the patents have transfered.
im going to wait for next year.
As a long time nokia user im rather disappointed with nokia 8. Not even catch my attention. Even lumia 930 or 920 has better design
It is good to see the Nokia brand back again. And to see them make such a stunning comeback is all the better for the consumer. So what if the Nokia 8 does not tick all of the boxes, it still looks like a supreme mobile device. I certainly would get one if I were in that segment of the market. Well done to Nokia for going done the Android route with their new smart devices.
Anonymous, 21 Aug 2017made in china junkName one phone not made in Asia. Please.
Nokia is only trying to compete with certain manufacturers. Nokia knows there are certain people that won't buy some of the chinese brands because of the spying issue (huawei, blu, zte). Nokia is back in my mind!! The Nokia 6 would be the best low budget phone if only they would've used the Snapdragon 625 and they will make that change soon with their strategy. Nokia will have a phone for every segment of the market. Believe it or not, there is a majority of the population that could care less about playing games on their phones and use them as phones. Good job Nokia and keep trucking with HMD!
Anonymous, 21 Aug 2017In this thread: gutter-tier flame wars over A PHONE. Let that sink in.The amount of rage in some of these comments is staggering!!! I'm always looking forward to the next hate-filled comment just to have a good laugh. The Nokia 8 is one phone among many, either you buy it or you don't. This "life or death" attitude amazes me. I'm a huge Nokia fan by the way, and I'll be getting the Nokia 8.

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2017common dude you can simply pinch in and pinch out the screen for zooming.... this is not a dsl... moreCan you make the difference between zooming and focusing?
What is more convenient - to touch the screen every time, or just half press the button and after focusing to countinue pressing till make the shot?
Companies, like Apple, Samsung, LG, HTC etc, saving costs with absence of camera button.
Only SONY still produce it.
AnonD-651341, 21 Aug 2017Nokia 8 spec is on par with 2017 flagship device. Dont u think snapdragon 835 not a flagship l... moreMost of u Nokia fanboys ALWAYS says that "specs are not everything!"
So, let's look from that perspective:
IF the camera sensors is THE SAME as LG G6, No Fuss over the SoC, flagship-level performance, and so on, then G6 is the MOST worth to buy, not Nokia 8!
The problem is, all u Nokia nerds are bunches of HYPOCRITES. You say "specs are not everything", yet ALWAYS says "for THE SPECS (SD835, Zeiss-made lenses, OZO, Dual 4K video recording gimmick), Nokia 8 is not overprice / cheap"!
It's a solid device. I will wait for the next Design-step to buy one though since the bezels are too big and I hate fingerprint/homebuttons on the front. The back is nice, no need to change that.
Anonymous, 20 Aug 2017i still miss the made in finlandIt was never "made" in Finland. It has always been manufactured in Asia.
Pia, 21 Aug 2017Sailfish was made by different company...it was a continuation on Meego which Nokia and intel ... moreStill dont understand whats so special about Meego.Back in its day it offered few advantages over iOS and Android, but now I doubt. And yes Sailfish is the one and the same thing as Meego, just more developed and polished(remember Meego never went past Beta).
I've hoped that Mozzila will have had more succes, but than again my point was proved... no devs jumped in and the OS faltered.
Sad but true
Maybe, Nokia with Sailfish OS or MeeGo will be a great Nokia device.
Yann, 21 Aug 2017Cause I'm not Apple fan and like to do things my way. Not the way that someone told me to do i... morecommon dude you can simply pinch in and pinch out the screen for zooming.... this is not a dslr.. anyway you have to keep your mobile far from your eyes while capturing. so you can easily pinch In and Pinch out.. hardware key just a ridiculous thing
