How on earth is it "camera-centric", with 1.12um pixels, and at 13mpx at that? Those sensors are insanely tiny. I'm also surprised so many people think this is a good showing for the first Nokia Android flagship.

My opinion is that Nokia will always be playing catchup, instead of been innovative and leading the way like Nokia of old.

Let the front camera be tested first, it might not perform well in low light because of higher megapixel count...
I'm not attacking you, but there's absolutely nothing special about this phone; apart from the fact that it has Nokia's branding and design language...

What good is a great phone if it,s never in stock?
You can't even purchase a Nokia 6 in Australia. To make it worse Chinese phones were snapped up by grey importers, modified and sold to unknowing customers.
Now do we wait an indeterminate time for new stock, or buy the equivalent Samsung phones? Some truthful feedback would be nice, it would allow potential customers to make an informed decision.
Sorry Nokia your marketing policy is extremely poor.
Real Nokia woul've made a unique design.
I'd say they're not really back, but hopefully soon.
If they also provide a dedicated camera key like Sony does, it would be a big plus as well.

I think Nokia not fully step in because Nokia lack flagship Phablet just for now, this nokia 8 is compact flagship for now, so not everyone are happy with compact phones, yes but many will be. But today phablets are with big screens and small bodys, so its good phone but they need try harder and shrink bezels even with compact phones. Durability Nokia sure have very good soo this advantage is in theirs side. Im not very happy about all this bezels because looks old thing. But when you se like flagship and price this is good one. But them need try harder later because this is not enough now. Sure Im happy that thing Nokia is back and we have this years new phones so Nokia is back. Also we still have Flagships with big bezels like HTC, Sony, Pixel, OnePlus, but next years will be harder and them will be and need try harder. So thats all. Next question is that Nokia lack of inovation and they are back then? I Thinking Nokia back enought with innovations like OZO sound recording, bothies, good selfie camera, dual back cameras, QHD screen (not big but still QHD, ad yes higher Ppi then, QHD IPS-LCD varian what I like, dual rear cameras, yes then I can say it's enought to say Nokia is back. For now. For now to finish them need succesor Nokia lumia 1520 phablet thats all.

Yes Nokia is back for real now. But they are still a small brand compared to Samsung or iPhone. But give them a year or so they might be among the big ones again.

There is something to it when you talk about made in Finland. My last phone made in Finland was the N8. On the box which I still have, it stands "made in Finland". It may be nostalgia, but still there is something to it.

I waited so long for this phone to come out, but i cannot say that i am not disappointed. I had thought it would have some great camera, I was hoping it will have some huge pixels like Samsung's or that it will have some crazy megapixels like 1020, but it has none. Don't get me wrong; i am sure Nokia's software will be greatly optimized but software can only go so far. . Nokia 8 has made compromises

remember sweden and look at it now the 13 world companies all indirectly supported by the swedish govt and they are a powerhouse in the world now

nokia is state owned indirectly just like toyota so it will succeed as it has the manpower the government backing and the banks behind so long term it will succeed more than you think and watch out for the stock as it is undervalued remember what it was worth many years ago will repeat itself

Sure, Nokia is back, but I doubt that the Nokia 8 would be enough to make the company great again - in the short term.
It is however great to see them back again! I am sure they will be 'back' in the game in the next 2-4 years. The Nokia 8 is great start!
Hope to see the actual Nokia 9 see the light of the day though

Nokia is only trying to compete with certain manufacturers. Nokia knows there are certain people that won't buy some of the chinese brands because of the spying issue (huawei, blu, zte). Nokia is back in my mind!! The Nokia 6 would be the best low budget phone if only they would've used the Snapdragon 625 and they will make that change soon with their strategy. Nokia will have a phone for every segment of the market. Believe it or not, there is a majority of the population that could care less about playing games on their phones and use them as phones. Good job Nokia and keep trucking with HMD!!

You have more options like Moto z force and oneplus 5 many other , they are value for money product...

Well done Nokia!! I have always owned A Nokia only really for the camera. The operating systems have been terrible if you want the truth. The Nokia N8 really started my smartphone journey....Symbian vs the I phone IOS was a crack but Nokia Always won with the camera!!!
I'm still using the Nokia(microsoft windows which has more a less Died!!) 1020 41MP as I found the rest of the smartphone crew boring!!!! my 1020 is still going strong ;) Time to get the Nokia 8 and get A real operating system. HMD I think you have nailed it at long last. The Nokia 3310 come back isn't bad either I use the small phone for work and haven't charged it for weeks.......HAHAHA I even own a fake one too lol to see how that did? FOOLED a few lol
I guess I will put away my 1020 and dig it out in say 30 years time lol and fire it up haha. I see pre orders are about like Germany and Aussyland? nothing in the U.K atm. Not sure if I should buy direct from HMD or wait. NO CONTRACTS FOR ME!!!!

Lol Nokia won't ever be bac... moreagree with you, real nokia will bring something like this. unless its a midrange. look at their flagship model before. 95 98 n99 or the e series or the N8. always standing out out of the crowd feature and design
