Well, fortunately, it's no longer necessary to have a top-notch chip any longer. Performance wise even underclocked 810 in my Note 4 still does its job perfectly.

Even phones with 835 will be perfectly fine.

Top dogs takes first, other looser get last. This companies need to think about making their own chipsets, look at Huawei, they don't have this problem

Anonymous, 22 Aug 2017twice in a row? even i smell something fishy. qualcomm better be smart and start spreading tho... moreSamsung can because they can buy all the stock available which Qualcomm doesn't mind as long all stocks are sold. Aside from that, Samsung manufactures the latest Snapdragons. Win-Win situation for the two.
The SD845 will remain in 10nm manufacturing process, same as the 835, small performance and efficiency improvements.

If Qualcomm is not able to provide processor for all, then every OEM will start thinking of their own Chipsets, They can't wait for chipsets to produce smartphones. Huawei is already in right track.

Sony was first with SD835 last year in their XZP but look where that phone now. Nowhere to be seen anymore. No one talks about it. Being first doesnt matter. The one with the biggest impact will be talk about forever. This is pretty much Samsung cooking up publicity for S9. They gain attention from this kind of news; both good & bad kind of attention. And that is exactly what they want! Thank you for giving so much attention to Samsung all of you folks. Thank you. You just help contribute so much in this publicity. *sarcasm

Qualcomm doesn't care who buys their chips, as long as the money rolls in. Though supply could be increased for more revenues. Samsung doesn't care if they buy all the chips, it's their money anyways.

Neither company is a monopoly (Mediatek and Apple are not exactly small rivals), so no antitrust laws are applicable here - it is legal. This is a classic case of "you snooze, you lose". Not even Samsung is immune from the law of the jungle if they are caught off-guard.

Qualcomm should invest in a new factory to fulfill all the demand, not only for Samsung.
