Well, fortunately, it's no longer necessary to have a top-notch chip any longer. Performance wise even underclocked 810 in my Note 4 still does its job perfectly.
Even phones with 835 will be perfectly fine.
How comes supply is an issue now? In previous years it will worked out fine for all OEMs, so what's changed now?
Vegetaholic, 22 Aug 2017Exynos better in gpu already, g71-20 kills adreno 540man, get your fact together. even adreno 530 still better than mali g71-20. on par with snap 810 adreno 430
Top dogs takes first, other looser get last. This companies need to think about making their own chipsets, look at Huawei, they don't have this problem
I wish I saw sony flagship with their own x1/...? chip, they should be more original. Well, they dis promise, want to see that change.
Anonymous, 22 Aug 2017twice in a row? even i smell something fishy. qualcomm better be smart and start spreading tho... moreSamsung can because they can buy all the stock available which Qualcomm doesn't mind as long all stocks are sold. Aside from that, Samsung manufactures the latest Snapdragons. Win-Win situation for the two.
The SD845 will remain in 10nm manufacturing process, same as the 835, small performance and efficiency improvements.
If Qualcomm is not able to provide processor for all, then every OEM will start thinking of their own Chipsets, They can't wait for chipsets to produce smartphones. Huawei is already in right track.
Luxor, 22 Aug 2017LG first to have SD845? Lol. Thats a joke. Sony was first with SD835 last year in their XZP bu... moreNo. Sony just showed off unfinished model early on to try and put spot light on.
S8 still actually released first with s835
XxoxX, 21 Aug 2017this is unfair! But like a old-news saying i hope LG be the first to have 845 to put it on ... moreLG first to have SD845? Lol. Thats a joke. Sony was first with SD835 last year in their XZP but look where that phone now. Nowhere to be seen anymore. No one talks about it. Being first doesnt matter. The one with the biggest impact will be talk about forever. This is pretty much Samsung cooking up publicity for S9. They gain attention from this kind of news; both good & bad kind of attention. And that is exactly what they want! Thank you for giving so much attention to Samsung all of you folks. Thank you. You just help contribute so much in this publicity. *sarcasm
sammies, 22 Aug 2017Goodbye V30 :( SadWhat does that have to do with it? V30 is coming soon.
sammies, 22 Aug 2017Goodbye V30 :( SadWhy? The V30 is going to have the 835. The V40 will have the 845.
Qualcomm doesn't care who buys their chips, as long as the money rolls in. Though supply could be increased for more revenues. Samsung doesn't care if they buy all the chips, it's their money anyways.
Neither company is a monopoly (Mediatek and Apple are not exactly small rivals), so no antitrust laws are applicable here - it is legal. This is a classic case of "you snooze, you lose". Not even Samsung is immune from the law of the jungle if they are caught off-guard.
Qualcomm should invest in a new factory to fulfill all the demand, not only for Samsung.
Xiaomi, HTC and OnePlus won't have issues. Their flagships come late april/may.
Same for Sony , MWC high end comes in june always...
Moto Z3 family in july/august.
Pixel in september
LG is the one in danger...
shakeelmohammed, 22 Aug 2017Yep i agree the s8 was arguably the slowest flagship of the year sadly Meanwhile performs perfectly well. Go figure.
