Well,I won't get any Android update until the last minute, cause beside the fact that Nougat is working great on my Mi6,I never liked that Oreo biscuits, strange taste..like cheap plastic cookie..and that name Oreo,I guess guys at Google's marketing dept.spent few hundred million $ and few meetings to come up with..Oreo..!?maybe they are underpaid..

Well Android got to an 85% market share even with massive fragmentation. If they fix that (with project Treble) then their future looks only brighter.

If I am honest, I just don't understand the issue people have with not getting software version updates. I am typing this on a 7.1.1 device, but would be perfectly happy to still run Marshmallow, as that is what the phone was supplied it.

As long as security patching starts happening in a timely manner, I am fine.

Luxor, 22 Aug 2017From an article: Google is once again trying to solve the problem of slow Android updates, ... morefor that, we need a BRAND NEW phone or few lucky phones to receive oreo. for that to happen it will have to wait until next year, approximately by the time android p comes out. i can undrstand google's good intention to eliminate FRAGMENTATION, but the way is so steep, unless Google take a drastic things and push oem to update all android.....

As it has been confirmed that Sony has been working with Google on Android Oreo, they have implemented ldac (high resolution wireless audio with the highest bitrate) within Oreo as standard, but the manufacturer have to pay sony licence fee to allow consumers to use it, chances that lg won't use it as it already uses aptx HD and Samsung uses Bluetooth 5.0, however, other manufacturers could use this feature

Anonymous, 22 Aug 2017Well, Google just updated the base, so now you have one month to improve MIUI for like, 20 pho... moreJust new phone. Build up phone with all the components then wait little time for 8.0 to come out - test couple weeks plenty of time for fresh new os, should not have any problem since is not upgrading and next month release the phone. But they realise phones even few months after 8.0 with old 7.0. Take a look at Samsung galaxy A 2017 series January 2017. Nougat was out for like 5 months and they made them with 6.0.1 LOL.

It's always fun to read about customers "complaining" that their device is not getting the next update right away or "so slow". It's pretty simple: Buy a Toaster of some kind, does it get upgrades? no. Buy a Television and you will get updates, but also the latest? Well no I guess not. Laptop? Well not on Windows 3.11 - Windows 7. Wait but Apple!!! Oh well, if you jail in your service onto YOUR DEVICES and YOUR DEVICES ONLY and NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO USE IT ESLEWHERE...then you can just buy a Pixel, Google's try on the MY DEVICE ONLY front. You will get some updates at least. Android is used by manymanymany companies to build alarm-clocks, smart ovens, smart fridges, watches, speakers...etc. They won't update these. Why expect updates on your phone then, security? Go leave Facebook, Google, Apple if you want security! Also If you want updates, go do it yourself, you are free to do so. You never signed a contract saying you will get updates.

Anonymous, 22 Aug 2017The real question is what will come after Android Z? Probably start with A again?Perhaps they will switch to name of fruits, like A for apple... I mean avocado.

That Android Oreo mascot is ugly as fook. Is that supposed to be a sexy girl superhero in a skirt? Then they failed miserably. Should have designed it as some kind of geeky goofy male cartoon character, that would have been more appropriate and endearing. A sexy Oreo cookie will never work. What a bunch of incompetent idiots!
