Everything is perfect except the price tag. I can buy both phone(OP5, iP7, S7 or even S8) and a DSLR for the price Samsung is quoting for Note8.
Anonymous, 28 Aug 2017Sami now that the cat is out of the bag officially... some hard questions 1) Will there be ... moreYou want an even bigger screen? 6.3" isn't enough for you? Go and buy a Tablet for yourself. Military Grade? No flagship from Sony and LG are military grade. Go and buy S8 Active. 4000 mAH? It would definitely make the phone even more bulkier and heavier too....

Anonymous, 28 Aug 2017Sami now that the cat is out of the bag officially... some hard questions
1) Will there be ... moreAs far as MLG there is the Active. The XZP and G6 are not MLG. That is not a direct comparison.
Though I myself and many Note users would love an Active version of the Note.
Sami now that the cat is out of the bag officially... some hard questions
1) Will there be a Samsung Galaxy Note 8+???
What went well
1) There is another Note in Town ( real life performance to be checked)
2) 6 GB Ram
3) SD Card
Where you missed the boat:
1)Only 6.3 Inch Screen 0.1 Over the S8+. Should have been 6.4 or more upto 6.8
2) 3300 mAh battery the S8 + Has 3500 and is cheaper right now. the Note 8 should have been at least 4000+ mAh
3) No MILT 810 G - LG / Sony Has it in their high end phones
4) Onboard memory starter should have been 128 GB
5) Bixbi button not mappable to other Assistants
Nokia had small misses till it did in the company... Are we seeing this with Sami too ... s this the decline curve !!
Max RM 3.6 k .. I'll buy it
Tdys pdt must provide value for money vis the industry competitiveness esp smartph industry
For me, its near perfect, but I wish to highlight 2 things that I find lacking:-
1. No new slow motion modes. They're being same as the Snapdragon 810....
At least, 1080p120 is a possibility even on this hardware, I guess.
But its about time we see 720p@480 or at least 720p@360 in the flagships...
2. Price. That might eventually come down though, we know this.
Other things are good! :)
gollygeewillikers, 28 Aug 2017Like so many other commenters, I agree that Samsung has lost their way with the Note line. The... moreI totally agree. Since there are more people in this world who see smartphones as a jewel or an accessory, with samsung's new marketing trick, they will make a lot of money. They are appealing to this group of people (which far outways the number of power users or people who have great utility for an s pen- those i call the original note fanbase) with a glass phone which looks good but isn't practical. I know so many people who bought the note 5 and note 7 who barely use the s pen. Lots of women in fact. And most of them upgraded from the preceding s series phone (the s6 at that time). Note series could've done better with more robust build that didn't have a glass back with more money invested on putting better specs and not cut costs to increase profit. That's what samsung is doing now.
"We introduce app pair. Now you can create shortcuts of two commonly used apps to open up from the edge pannel" ---note 4 had this feature. Multi window shortcuts were there before. It's just samsung smooth talk making it a hype and making average users think it's a new feature.
They also talk as if screen off memo and always on display have the screen off. The screen in ON. It's consuming battery. Less cause it's AMOLED, but it is. And they put a smaller battery in the phone. Why do they sell a phone that will barely last HALF A DAY when used to its fullest? And samsung optimised the display resolution so that we can select 1080p as a resolution, a downgrade from QHD. But that's not the point. The note series now is supposed to run in QHD all the time. The note 4 was rendering everything in QHD all the time. It's so good to read in QHD. There is a difference. I used my note 4 for reading alot and the note 5 after the software update was able to downscale to 1080p. The feel is different. It's barely enjoyable.
Samsung has assumed the strategy of smooth talk, convincing the average consumer that their "not so new tech" is "absolute innovation and novelty" and of asking people for a huge price. The phone can easily cost $500. It's just the brand name that's taking it up to $1000. Cause the former is how much the phone's actually worth. Anything less than $1000.
Poor customers who don't know, please save your money. Give it a bit more wait. Wait for the note 9 and see if things have changed. Chances are unlikely. Best thing is to move on from the note series. It's trash
AnonD-296725, 28 Aug 2017you ppl have to first understand that note line is not for the mainstream, that's why you have... moreThe note series is more like the Xeon series from Intel. It's for the professionals, hardly for the enthusiasts. But smartphone is a lifestyle device, aiming it for very very very specific group of people kinda defeats it's meaning at least for me.
Like so many other commenters, I agree that Samsung has lost their way with the Note line. The Note 4 was the last "true" Note, with its plastic back, removable battery, and IR blaster. It is lightweight and unbreakable, you can literally sit on it!
Note users want functionality over aesthetics. The curved screen was a fine gimmick for the S series.
But in real life and day-to-day usage, the S series is too tall and narrow - more so on the S8+. The curved screen sucks for video and reading.
At the very least, Samsung should have made the Note 8 flatter and shorter and with a bigger battery. It will appeal to a newer demographic, but not the Note users who remember how awesome the older models used to be.
you ppl have to first understand that note line is not for the mainstream, that's why you have s line for that. note line is like intel's hedt line, it's for enthusiasts. basically, it's not for little kids
Just look at ads picture, the Note 8 immerse into water, the S pen is beside the phone:
- Who will use the S pen in water? If the S pen lost....
- The S pen port get wet, how to keep the slot from moisture?...
- Is the S pen have IP68?
I'd rather get the Note FE
i voted "it is perfect" but still, there are things that bothered me greatly
smaller battery, no the finger print
I am not getting this device, but it is a great one.
It is way better than what I had actually hoped for
Good phone BUT... I don't like the price tag; it's exploitative and there are choices and this choice is NO.
I also want to have a removable battery. Given the battery meltdown of the Note 7, having the ability to quickly exit the battery is important. They can do IP68 with the rubber seal to allow to exit the battery.
If only they continued the IR Blaster, we, the IR Blaster patrol would still think its perfect.
Imperator Neubaticus, 27 Aug 2017Correction, a FEW note 7s spontaneously combusted. Just like a few iphones, lgs, and nokias sp... moreWell like i said, it's not just Note 7 and not just explosions. There are too many complaints of swelling batteries with Samsung phones. Try researching and you'll come to the same conclusion: That no other brand has so many failed batteries.
River rafter, 27 Aug 2017I am disappointed by the sheer number of fools believing in Samsung and letting them get away ... moreVery well said.
Not to mention that samsung does nothing to improve the ammo technology
Perhaps because it is more profitable for them
Buy a $ 1,000 phone and change the display every year
