How does it affect a consumer in any way? I ask this as someone whose family members have 4 AMOLED phones, with no burn-in in any of them.

The X940E, X900E, ZD9 ... moreSony stopped using OLEDs in their TVs in 2010 when their 11" displays didnt go well with customers. They are again entering OLED display field with their A1, by using LG made panel. Even their first ever mobile OLED panel, used in Vita gaming console was made by Samsung. Sony no longer has in-house panel technologies for consumer TVs.
