Oh dear, the fanboys trying to save face (it isn't working). Again with technology babble... 72hrs is nowhere near enough endurance for a power user.... there is big difference in just trying a device and actually owning one.
Sony Fanboy Bitches, 31 Aug 2017Dafq did any Sony fan said it is an innovation?

ah, well....
Sony adopted it first, and innovation it is, be it made inhouse or 3rd party...
Seeing others are adopting it, is a good thing.
Every phone with it, is better than a phone without it. Simple as that.
Sory sony, I already have S8 and I really love it. Sony must change their phone to bezelless design and new UI.

Anonymous, 31 Aug 2017Wrong, Sony has the worst battery life and still has overheating problems. The current flagshi... moreOh right.
Last time I've checked, the XZ Premium with 4K HDR IPS LCD screen has an endurance rating of 72h, which is pretty much on par with the likes of the U 11, which on its own, has a 2K non-HDR IPS LCD screen with just 3000mAh battery (vs 3230mAh on the XZ Premium)
And I'm sorry for the faults of your XZ Premium. I tried one myself in person and it's just a bloody beast of a phone.
XZ Premium with 5.5" 4K HDR IPS LCD screen, and the 3230mAh battery is enough to power it up for 72h of total endurance rating, so it'll probably be the same endurance rating for the XZ1 with 5.2" 1080p HDR IPS LCD screen with 2700mAh battery.
But just a bummer, nobody complained about the thickness of Xperia devices yet they focused on actually making it thinner for less battery.
XZ Premium is still more impressive, achieving a 3230mAh battery inside a shell that's just 7.9mm thick.
Tann Hauser, 31 Aug 2017That is where OEM software optimizations and tech kick in. And Sony is really good at it.
Les... moreWrong, Sony has the worst battery life and still has overheating problems. The current flagship model has constant wifi dropping out problems.
Lex79, 31 Aug 2017Yeah I'm getting fed up of Sony fans trying to erroneously credit Sony with inventing Qnovo.

I'm also a Sony fan but I never claimed Qnovo Battery technology as something innovative, but rather worth mentioning addition.
Disappointing battery size, so how small will the battery on the compact be? and also disabled fps like always? I really want a sony phone next, but i need that fps.
Hopefully, the XZ1 Compact will come to the Philippines, because I would prefer that phone to other brands. The X compact didn't come to the Philippines unfortunately.
Tann Hauser, 31 Aug 2017That is where OEM software optimizations and tech kick in. And Sony is really good at it.
Les... moreNope, experience shows that small batteries are just small and it can never be compensated. iPhone 7 has to be charge it 3 times a day too, if you're a power user (I know it for a fact, because a relative has it). All the "optimizations" don't matter.
And have you seen Sony's last model's battery tests? They are performing bad even for the small batteries they have.

Less heating of SoC, less power consumption.
Better antenna tech, less power consumption.
But screen consumption is constant, yes.

That battery HAS to be for the compact. With those bezels, they have no excuses. Competition has removed the bezel and still provide adequate batteries.
Device looks thick by 2014 standards, this time with a smaller battery, sony what's going on?
It's almost as if the honchos at Sony have a gun pointed at them, and are forced to make disastrous decisions, year after year! Small sensors, small battery, yet a large device. Add the fact that the biometric sensor has been disabled for the US market. To me, the Z3 was the pinnacle of improvement in the flagship Xperia line; things just went downhill from there. I love the new design, and their clean UI. And while I'm no fan of jumping on the 'spec-one-upmanship' bandwagon, Sony seriously needs to up their game with respect to unique offerings. There is nothing that their devices offer that the competition already doesn't.
