If asus diverts some of their 'pretty models' budget to getting quality components for their phones. I might consider it... As they are I know for a fact that asus only stocks lcd screens with dead pixels. And has probably the worst update record of all android manufacturers.

Excellents ! Its amazing how ASUS brought the 2 seperate devices into one and this is a doorway to future.
But I hope it will actually work the way its hsown in the advertisement.
Its a defining moment for ASUS :- like Apple brought in iPAD.

Not only would you have 2 additional pieces of hardware but those pieces wouldn't function without you inserting your cell phone first - this is why I think this entire concept is going to fail!
For the same amount of money, you can buy yourself a sweat netbook with touch screen. That netbook would work even without your phone and you still could tether it via USB cable or BT.
Just my 2 cents ... !

AnonD-5197, 30 May 2011Sense is the reason Android haters say Androids drain battery too fast.It's also the reason that makes me stick with HTC.
And I believe It's not Sense that makes Android drain battery more, it's HTC Screen's. Samsung has more battery efficient screens and that makes them much better in terms of battery.

the thing that is also needed is a device that can dock the pad (in which the smartphone is docked) and turn it to a netbook with a keyboard.
so totally there would be 3 modes to use:
1. smartphone-only
2. pad - in which the smartphone is docked
3. netbook - in which the pad (with the docked smartphone) is docked.
this three stage solution is the ultimate one!
