TheOtherGuy, 03 Sep 2017It's also pointless spending money on a phone with a terrible battery life. Your precious XZ1 ... moreIf the front is avarage, others are even worse.
Iphone has tan effect
S8 has overexposion
G6 is too noisy
vrvly, 03 Sep 2017Just like old phones, important is easy and cheap change of external part of phone. Phones ext... moreIf phones's externals are meant to be broken, then why even bother make an expensive piece of glass when we can simply have a phone made out of eggshells outside?
For something worth a flagship price tag, you should expect top notch build quality, not a fragile piece of glass.
Anonymous, 03 Sep 2017Woah, woah, you should at least have some knowledge when talking about something, rather than ... more"The LG V30 is MIL-STD-810G certified - or, in other words, resistant to most drops."
Right, says the guy claiming a phone made of glass to be most resistant to drops.
What about the XZ1? It's made out of far more durable materials yet doesn't get the military grade certification?
Hah, very fair.
"In fact, LG has done a masterpiece here - a nicely looking screen with very few bezels, while still being resistant to drops."
Wow. An achievement. Horay.
Sony has clad a 2700mAh battery, 1/2.3" 19mp camera, 8mp 1/4" AF wide angle front camera, fingerprint scanner, dual front-facing stereo speakers, SD835, 4GB RAM, and an IP65/68 rating inside a phone with just 4.6" display.
Oh, and the speakers now have 50% more sound pressure.
"Oh, and the screen is P-OLED, so if you manage to crack it somehow, you'll have to replace only the glass - not the display."
If the screen burns in, you'll just have to buy a whole new panel that costs more than an IPS LCD counterpart of its own. Really good idea.
I love OLED, but not P-OLED nor AMOLED - I'm waiting for Sony's WCF-OLED.
"And it doesn't have any accidental touch problems - the bezels on sides are actually bigger than it looks at first - just look closer."
And those bezels are just as large as the side bezels of the XZ1, and the XZ1 has a fingerprint scanner inside of it.
Yet people are hating it for its large bezels when a phone that's supposed to be a "media phablet flagship device" doesn't even have some pair of good sounding stereo front speakers.
AnonD-563937, 03 Sep 2017i never felt aneed for stereo speakers , only thing i do with the speakers is ringtones lol , ... moreIf you don't really need stereo speakers, then okay, but let's not say that neither does the others - I do love stereo front speakers, especially for something worth a flagship price.
My point of scanning objects is that the manufacturer has put some effort of making it - not even AR-dedicated smartphones could do this thing.
Bezelless is nothing sort of complicated, but it's just pointless.
If everyone's not needing an excellent camera, then why even bother making flagship phones with large sensors when we can just have a mid range one?
Apparently you're right at the end - nobody cares about phones' functionalities anymore.
Guess I must be glad that Sony's one of the few OEMs to have bezels, just like how LG's the last flagship OEM to make flagship phones with removable batteries and IR Blaster.
TheOtherGuy, 03 Sep 2017It's also pointless spending money on a phone with a terrible battery life. Your precious XZ1 ... moreThe phones that you've made mention of are having screens larger than 5.2".
And Sony made a 3230mAh battery power a 5.5" 4K HDR screen for a total of 72h of Endurance Rating, so 2700mAh battery for a 5.2" 1080p HDR screen would output just as good, or even more standby time and higher overall endurance rating.
Your acclaim to that seems to be just purely based on specs, when the XZ with just 2900mAh battery and less efficient SD820 had 72h ER.
My sister used to have a G4, which also has very sharp corners, but I don't find myself hurting myself when holding it.
Unless sharp corners tear your palm like a piece of paper, I think you're being too subjective to this.
960fps Slow Motion is also a gimmick, but no more worth than a bezelless display.
If you are talking about average camera, why would you forget LG? 1/5" 5mp non-AF f2.2 ffc compared to 13mp 1/3.06" AF f2.0 ffc on the XZ1, it's not even a doubt.
So if you consider the ffc of the XZ1 as "average," then I assume that the Note 8 / S8 / S8+ ffc for you is "below average."
Then again I'm biased, but anyone can be an honest person, be it fanboy or not.
GsmArena says "The 6" P-OLED screen looks amazing". ArsTechnica says "The OLED panel on my pre-production unit still has the same issues as the LG G Flex. In low brightness in a dark room, the screen is grainy and has "dirty" looking horizontal banding all over it. The light level is also woefully uneven, with hotspots blazing out of the left and right corners." And proves with photo. Amazing screen? How? It's a disaster
Easily the V30 no one can compete with it, xz1 should have atleast QHD and xz1 compact with 1080p
Anonymous, 03 Sep 2017Woah, woah, you should at least have some knowledge when talking about something, rather than ... moreNot everything with the 810G certification is equally durable though - the G6 has it and the back glass will most likely crack if you drop it on a hard surface. LG makes it sound like it's going to be durable like the V10 or 20, but it probably won't be close to the same. I'd trust the XZ1 or a Nokia 8 a lot more in terms of withstanding drops, regardless of the 810G rating.
Easily the V30 for me, not even a competition.
It's either V30 or XZ1 Compact.
V30 is successor of both V20 and G-FLEX (yes, display isn't curved, but it's P-OLED, something
I thought LG has ever forgotten how to make).
XZ1 Compact is return of proper Flagship Compact, which we haven't had since Z5 Compact. 2 years.
X4 doesn't offers much to encourage buyers, neither does XZ1, which is just upgraded XZs, and XZs was upgraded XZ. Two generations already and nothing to actually excite.
I thought LG this time will come with triple camera lenses, so it is just same as previously...
Anonymous, 03 Sep 2017V30: clearly the best XZ1: good evolution, but they could have at least sliced off the bezels... moreIf next year Samsung launch the flexible smartphone, than again...why Sony doesn't launch flexible smartphone bla bla bla..
TheOtherGuy, 03 Sep 2017You really need to check your facts before making yourself look like a fool. The V30 has the ... moreSo, what fact I need to check. I never said V30 doesnt have SD835 or 4gb ram. The fact that it is the same chipset & ram is why i said XZ1 seems to be more affordable because XZ1 only have 1080p display which should be cheaper option. Also the fact that it have Oreo is even better. Read carefully before replying like a fool.
I have owned a few smartphone brands (iPhone, Samsung, LG, HTC and Nokia), over the lat few years, and NO single brand is head and shoulders above the others.
The iPhone is way mote fluid than anything else. And that's probably the sole advantage it has over other brands.
Samsung had No comparison for the quality of the screen in terms of brightness, colours, contrast and the detail. The iPhone and everything else is not even in the same ballpark.
In terms of Camera, the Pixel, LG G6, S7, S8, HTC U11 and so many other smartphones take Beter photos than the iPhone. Sometimes wayyy better. The iPhone 7 Plus cameras have serious issues wig managing the dual camera setups. While it is a great concept, Apple's implementation is far from good. Especially considering be premium factor attached to the dual camera setup.
A lot of the iPhone of today and the next iPhone is due to Samsung. From big.LITTLE, to water resistance, to OLED, to super bright screens (the Note 7 is an unbelievable 1200 Nits), to curved infinity screens, to glass backs, to huge phablet sized screens, to bezel-less displays, to so many other things.
If Apple has made Samsung better, Samsung has contributed a lot more at improving the iPhone experience.
And Samsung, like everyone else needs to correct issues like the placement of the fingerprint scanner. Also they could improve the quality of their on-board speakers.
And while a lot of people (including a certain former Google employee probably asked to leave google) feel the iPhone is better at things like photography, test figures by experts and user experience seem to show things otherwise.
And while Smartphone cameras have improved exponentially in the last 3-4 years, with improvements in computational photography, they will improve way more in the next few years.
My vote is for Samsung S8. I took a half hour demo on a nearby shop and felt that it is the best android device money can buy.
Are people actually voting other phone than the V30?
How stupid *smh*
Sony Fanboy Bitches, 03 Sep 2017Geez, the poll is about the very best phone of IFA, not the one with the thinnest bezels, whic... moreJust like old phones, important is easy and cheap change of external part of phone. Phones exterior is meant to be damaged, even more if its for beauty and new technology. Cases for additional protection are also meaningful. Accidental touch is just sw problem, it could be also solved by touch sensors over whole body to detect hand for finding out whats controlling finger, whats not. I prefer better tech, even if not perfect, over hiding behind inconvenience. Thats also reason why so many people use so big screen thats so easy to crack(S8edge phones even more) instead of phones with thick body, bezels or small screen. Best phone is one with most advanced tech.
V30 if the price is right but till now they haven't released the price yet. I guess they're looking at the public's reception of the phone. Multiple reviewers are positive for the V30 and I have a bad feeling on its price.
Lg v30? Whith camera sensors low cost y p amoled defective?
My vote goes to LG. You know, in my country, people think that 'should I really buy phone from a Refrigerator company' and even though I knew better, I never cared for LG phones.
Always liked Sony, but they were really not up to the mark here. As far as android world is concerned, Note 8 and V30 are at the top for the moment (with V30 slightly ahead for lower price), with XZP and Nokia 8 following through.
Let's see what Pixel, Xiaomi, and Huawei has to offer.
