Companies advertise the core numbers but not the clock speed. 20 cores always sounds better than 8 or 12 . In paper exynos are great . But real world they couldn't click that much .

pedros43, 02 Sep 2017the 540 is atleast 50 % better what are you talking about Get ur facts straight man. Even Qualcomm's official site says 25%. And just 20 over the SD821 adreno 530 that I have. All the GFX benchmarks point to around only 4-5 fps gain over Adreno 530 in tests like Manhattan and Cat.

As well as having quick but short lived boost or better longevity. It would have to throttle more if it was clocked higher. And the overall most powerful gpu on android in it's current configuration.

So, be sure they will use underclocked G72 in next processor too.
Only increasing core numbers doesn't make the processor a hit . You also have to consider the clock speed of the processor.
iPhone6? I own one, for work, it's from september 2014. Back then it was a great phone, but now... 6 is a Crappy phone now, my xperia XA1 beats it everywhere. I would not buy iPhone 6 for 30 eur in 2017...
hmmm..., 02 Sep 2017Just because they can doesn't mean that they should. a 35 core G72 will draw so much power and... moreExynos 8895 already has 20 cores of G71, moreover G72 gonna be 25% more efficient and 20% smaller than its predecessor. G72 is scalable up to 32 cores. At the same manufacturing process and same clock speed G72 MP32 only will draw 20% more power and its footprint will be just 28% larger. With a slight underclocking that extra power consumption would be gone.
So it's already within the realm of possibility. Few months from now Samsung Foundries' 2nd gen 10nm process will came with 15% less power draw and TSMC's 7nm process will have huge 40% less power draw. Right now Intel Custom Foundries' 3rd gen 14nm and upcoming soon 10nm nodes both also probably will be on par with TSMC's 7nm.
G72 MP32 at new nodes from various foundries could be totally sustainable contrary to both Exynos 8895 and Snapdragon 835, but it will be more expensive so probably we won't see such a configuration at action.
G72 MP12 is Huawei being cheap considering their own high ambitions. They messed up with Kirin 960 after praised Kirin 950 just because of the same reason.

If someone introduces one ... moreJust because they can doesn't mean that they should. a 35 core G72 will draw so much power and maybe even cook your phone... they would need to shink it to maybe 3-4 nm process to even consider that on a mobile device... and by then they would have a better constructed new GPU...
