[deleted post]It's shame to compare nokia with Samsung. as the later reached heights while former crawled down. all thanks to Android and somewhat WP7. it's surely a thing so mention that Samsung really put Nokia down with the screen they put in Nokia phones. they are no where compared to samsung screens the touch lags big time. first place why even Nokia did not made a study? is nokia a new company? today high priced N8, C7, E7 no one wants to buy and if someone whats to sell also it's going for less than half a price. what a misery! Y nokia havn't ask for Super Amoled? I'm yet to see a screen like Galaxy S. deep blacks and deep other colors too gives the user a true experience when watching HD movies. this screen is undefeated until date. so what is Super amoled plus? what can be better then the best i.e. super amoled. let the phone release in my teritory and i'll find out myself. by the way, every phone have their own let downs. Samsung hand sets are no where when they are compared with HTC when it comes to the feel. a HTC phone feels good in hand than a Samsung. the metal talks it all. I wouldnt even mention a phone which cannot be hackable. they are peace of shit's let them keep them in the museum.

uber cool, 01 Jun 2011amoled is all about OVERSATURATED FAKE COLORS... totally unplesant to look at.... yes i do agr... moreare you sure the Amoled technology is to blame, and not the companies, that prefer to boost colors to attract the average consumer, instead of keeping it as close to real, as possible.
Samsung like to boost colors, they have even had automatic functions for that in the gallery on several of models.
Im pretty sure, that they've boosted the settings for all their AMOLED phones.

You guys are better off with a Nokia device. Most are half the price of the defective SGS II and offer pretty much the same functionality. The Super Amoled+ of Samsung is defective and it affects the majority of them. There is currently no fix to this "Yellowgate Fiasco" of the SGS II. It's a hardware defect that no software patch can fix. The folks at XDA are now asking Samsung to publicly admit the defect, apologize, and issue a recall.

Why spend $700 on a defective device when a smarter alternative exist? Besides, Android is all hype and whatever Android can do, the S^3 can do it too.

Samsung will sell only AMOLED to the rest of the world while keeping the "SUPER AMOLED PLUS" for their own produts.

[deleted post]I read the thread all the way to 26th page. I'm not sure how many there are now.

I am aware of burn-ins, Nokia's purple tint and some other issues that were related to AMOLEDs. So? You obviously didn't read the thread all the way to the end. You can't say "majority" have this issue without any numbers backing it up. It's small number of defects until it's proven that it's a major problem. The poll would have to include majority of the units sold to have any relevance. Any poll taken from a forum is not reliable obviously because customers who find the defect is more inclined to take a look at the article and cast the vote.

I don't like AMOLED... it's just oversaturated and unnatural. The deep blacks and the high contrast are wonderful, but colors are just not like they are in the real world. There'S too much saturation and too much focus on vivid and bright colors.

I prefer IPS and S-LCD-Displays. They might not achive the same contrast levels and that deep blacks, but they are closer to reality.

I always get disappointed when I look at photographs on the phone first, put them on my PC and then discover that those colors are actually rather washed out, just not that bright and vivid as I saw them on the phone. I like them to be real in the first place.

Majority of the units are affected without most of the users noticing it. But once you spotted the problem, it gets annoying whenever you see that unnecessary discoloration on the screen. And I think you are also not aware of the infamous "purple screen" of the N8 and C7. Go search the net about it. This AMOLED problem is widespread and is enough to put a customer off from getting the device once they learn about it.

Nothing to worry about.

I wouldn't mind going through a few returns to use the best screen in the market.
