Although I do expect 3D facial recognition to be drastically better than the stupid iris/face combo in Samsung flagships, it still is a very new technology and no one can speculate how well it'll perform and more importantly, how practical and secure it'll be.
On a side note, I'm pretty sure most variants of the upcoming iPhone, the anniversary edition at least, will cost more than $1K so berating Samsung for their (excessively) overpriced phones is a moot point, really.

To be honest - looks ugly to me. I'd 1000 times prefer 6s over this one ( no 7 due to lack of 3.5 mm jack).

A bit of copy&past shows that the new will be even huger in width than the 7- though not as huge as the 7+, roughly in the middle of the two, so about 72mm, making it hard to use fully while holding it securely with one hand for a large part of the population.
