Android is starting to fail even normobs are getting fed up with its fragmentation and security. Are folk using Android or fake Android ie htc sense/touchwizz/motoblur.

That might have been the case almost 6 years back. You're right Symbian is dead and so is happening with Nokia. Wake up Nokia and adopt Android. Now Nokia is no longer the market leader in India. People are now looking out for more options like Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Blackberry and HTC are the most sought after brands.

[deleted post]Symbian is still at the top in India because Nokia have been king of Indian mobile world. Nokia India gives better after sale services than any other phone maker here. Lots of India centric apps are available on symbian. Devanagari font is still not supported on android phones though with few exceptions. Nokia handsets are considered as good build quality with better battery life. But it is also true that Samsung has challenged Nokia in India with more advanced android OS, cameras and touchsceens at competitive price tags. Android is growing fast without killing Symbian as more people have started buying smartphones. It would be interesting to see smartphone users' reaction to Nokia+WP7. By the way people will laugh at you if your phone dont have 'basic things' like FM radio, blutooth file transfer or USB mass storage. So God bless iOS. :)

For smartphones in India, Symbian is top OS. And Android is competing at second spot sure to win the crown. Thanks to Samsung wave series, people use Bada more than iOS! Some rare fellows use windows mobile.

Why did Android takeover the market against iOS? Simply because Android provided more CHOICE and properly segmented to different markets and users. It's developing very quickly and has a certain hip and coolness or appeal. It gives users the option to what type of phone, form and set of features they want. It could belong to your kid or to your uncle. It surpasses iOS in terms of market. Android is found in qwerty-touch bar, mini(x10 mini), bar, touchscreen-slideout qwerty, slate, tablet, 1.3 mp,2mp,3mp,5mp,8mp,12mp cams w/ or w/o led flash. different type of displays, brands, price-range and so many more. It simply offers endless possibilities. Will iOS or any OS for that matter win against Android's edge?

No bada os? I find if apps is not a top priority bada gets everything else done but is a bit behind on the app store. However IOS has it's restrictions...Android phones mostly have shitty battery life and bugs (wifi bluetooth switch fail)...bada is winning me over.

Android is very similar to a jailbroken ios and thats the best thing about it, you can do a lot of things the only limitation is the cpu and RAM.

AnonD-123, 01 Jun 2011That's like saying if I stick different SD cards in my phone, I end up with different models. ... moreeven in ipad-2 keynote

jobs said "we got 6 models work for both at&t and verizon"

what does model = mean ?

so u mean white iphone and black iphone are same ? so if i order iphone they give me both "32gb and 16gb " + "white + black" so they give me 4 phones ?
if not we can say "CDMA verizon of verizon and GSM at&t phones same ?"

so if i go to apple store and ask give me an iphone they ask me "which model sir or something " but they never give me directly simply by asking for "iphone"

but they wont give me CDMA+GSM+black+white+16gb+32gb phones lol

The title is a bit misleading. "iOS a close second"? Methinks not, since iOS has less than 2/3 of the amount of android users, and blackberry OS is just behind. The title implies that iOS is competing closely with android when, let's be honest, it's losing ground all the time.
