Gem , 09 Sep 2017They can delay whole pixel 2 launch until they come up with better designExactly and when the next-gen Snapdragon SOC becomes available to other manufacturers other than Samsung. But I still don't get why they have to bother with 836 next year when they can just skip to 845

Little difference at all. Why they don't release something like Snapdragon 845 or 850?

If Google is still going to exclude SD card slot in their ipixel, no amount of fast cpu or gimmicks is worth spending my money on a icrap wannabe.

let's get this clear, i will not pay to download data which i have already paid for in the first place, neither am i going to pay over and over again to access files which i have paid for.

if i want to be fleeced, i'd go to apple, not google, where they are mining my data and i am paying them to do so.

isn't 845 supposed to come next year or is the tsmc rumours false because samsung definitely can't get their 7nm ready until 2nd half.

They'd probably still release the 836 for non-flagship devices in 2018.

Well, as the article well stated, that If the improvement of the SD836 over SD835 will be as it was for the SD821 over the SD820 it won't be a great loss. In addition, then if it will be available next year, then it wouldn't be really needed (as for flagships), because then everyone will be looking forward for the SD845.

We don't need nor want a price boost, never mind negligible clock boost.

That is somehow dumb. It would be fine if they offer it as a revised, cheaper flagship compared to the new generation 845. But if it is the latest one when a few months later the next big step comes, it doesn't make much sense.

Cole, 08 Sep 2017The 835 is a lot better than the 821A73 is just incremental faster than A72. Adreno also the same 5xx series with increase core speed. The good part is they can stop overheating issue with Samsung 10nm node. So yes SD845 is a real improvement.

Even the SD 805 is almost indistinguishable from the 835, let alone the 820. Without bechmarks one wouldn't even know which one is which.
