The guy needs a boot to his loopy head.

“Rather than early adopters or avid tech fans, we are targeting a wider segment of general consumers who seek particular values in LG phones...”

Wrong.V30 is not yet reached to the final retail unit..so all these you are saying are not confirmed. What I said are the facts which which I noticed after using both devices for a while as well as from the data sheets..not just assuming...And Note 8 for over 1000euro price...is just waste of money, Samsung trying to recover theirs loses from theirs customers despite the fact that were... exploded last year...if you are Samsung fun...(I owned many Samsung devices my self too) then go and buy S8+..a Note 8 without slylus and 4 Gb of ram but with other benefits that Note lags...and in a much better price..simply as that!

AnonD-462139, 13 Sep 2017Note 8...Simply. It doesn't worth the price difference with V30.. Good device,, but extremely... moreFalse. The Note 8 is actually one of the fastest and close to the fastest around.
And despite it costing more is actually more fairly priced.

LG costs less because its cheaper to make and cut more corners. To the point it is more over priced and asking $750 for it compared to what others offer and the fact some of the parts used in V30 are in fact low budget.

Note 8...Simply. It doesn't worth the price difference with V30..
              Good device,, but extremely overpriced..
LG was always more realistic and a long term great performer without compromising the real life performance.. and as a matter of V30 even in data sheet specification has many things that Note 8 doesn't...Real wide Camera, 16Mpix with manual video controls, DAC, FM Radio, Compact design and many others..
So if the absence of the stylus is not the deal breaker...No reason to pay for Note 8..Or at least wait 2 months to get it with..200 dollars less..

zodiacfml, 13 Sep 2017DUh?! The V30 doesn't compete with the Note8. Period. and it won't! The prices are wrongly compared in this post. V30 will cost $300 instead of $500 as mentioned in the post on the same plan that N8 will cost $550 on. That's a $250 difference instead of the $50 difference as mentioned.

The cost of the plan will depend on your province. Regardless, if you pay $10 more ( called premium plan) than the on-market Telus BYOD plan aka 'smartphone' plan, you will get V30 for $500 upfront and if you pay $20 on top ( called premium plus plan) of BYOD, you'll get it for $300 upfront. That's what I understood from the $1,000 no contract price mentioned in the post. I'm with Telus, btw, so I know how it all works.

N8 goes for 1300CAD. But could you guys please add the "base" contract monthly fee for this? You say CAD500 on a premium tab, but how much do I pay each month? 50? 70? 100? And how much data? This is just a suggestion to make these news more informative

Put the V30 cheaper than Note 8 and then cut the price down even more when the V30+ arrives, was expected and a natural strategy knowing their specifications.

                                        Points in favor of V30

                                        - Smaller, slimmer and lighter. Aspect ratio is also more balanced.... S8/S8+ (and Note 8 by extension) look a bit too long to me
                                        - Side bezels are absolutely necessary IMO.... though this is subjective, but in my experience, edge displays make handling the phone difficult.
                                        - Better battery life (probably), as it has smaller display to power.. but the difference won't be very noticeable. In fact, Note 8 may turn out to have better endurance, so let's see...

Points in favor of Note 8

                                        - Stylus
                                        - 6GB of RAM (LG should have offered 6GB in the plus version at least)
                                        - Better camera (probably), V30's 1/3" sensor with 1.0um pixels is uninspiring, but we need to wait for the reviews to tell which one is better. In terms of selfie camera though, there is no contest... the one on Note 8 is far superior.
