Before face ID people have to "fight" you to unlock your phone using your thumb. Now after face ID all they need is just your sleeping face and BOOM voila, unlocked ;)
And maybe printed potrait of yours too? I'm a big fans of iphone but actually lack of fingerprint ID is the biggest drawback, if you think little long enough you'll see many flaws in the real world use. And dont forget the cracking back glass. Revolutionary? Partially yes. Efficiency and effectiveness? Maybe not.

I think V30 and Galaxy S8+ are more beautiful than iPhone X, but feature wise, iPhone X wins because it is bold enough to eliminate the useless fingerprint scanner.

Ugly, not reliable when i just wanna see the clock and not to unlock everytime i "accidentally" glanced. Nobody comment about $1000 starting price? And glass back that gloriously despise by iphone user as ugly look.

im still using pin to unlock phone, yea kids are smart enough to unlock phone using fingerprint while the user are sleeping lol

Would have been nice if they just add the fp scanner and let the consumer choose what to use

I hope iphone 9 wont be same... moreProbably they intentionally design the iPhone 8 less attractive (ie, minor incremental features updates, same design as iPhone 7) to ensure super premium priced iPhone x more attractive, so they can sell with profit margin
It's called products segmentation and pricing strategy
