The future must somehow be getting the screen closer to the point of use - the eyes. Why should it be positioned so far away and even further as TVs are. On the other hand VR goggles are also a little too much. So waiting for the future.

Even if all of the screen from top to bottom were covered, the X would have the screen AREA of a 5.4" 16:9 phone, which is smaller than the 8+. Do the math and stop thinking in terms of screen diagonals! They are not representative of screens' sizes (i.e. areas) in this era of varying aspect ratios! Also, the width of the X is equivalent to a normal 4.7" hone, meaning that uncropped 16:9 videos and pictures get displayed at that tiny size! Thinking of the extra area as "secondary screens" is a good idea; app designers can not use this area fully because it would hinder compatibility with 16:9 models!

so those horns without them you have 5.56 display near LG Q6 but round corner display make even make lesser useful screen. and 16 x 9 you have 5inch phone but ? it's Superamoled and talking about efficient parts is not easy . since do you sure how you u can have with upper bar and in android a big lower bar . i think best display are in blackberry qwerty phones but you have bad screen to body rate. for an ips phone 16:9 without software nav bar is best and for amoled phone i prefer a hornless phone - not like X and ph-1 - that it's rounder be ok on bars on up and down phone ... for example 19:9 phone up and down for bars in android phone finnaly make a phone 18 9

Just imagine the same dimensions but getting rid of that ugly forehead and chin. That's pretty much what the iPhone X will be. Extra 0.8" just by ridding the top and bottom bezel.
I just checked my Pixel and imagining with my thumb at reaching the notification shade. It's perfect for me! 143mm isn't too tall while reaching for the top. Once you get to 150mm or 158mm (iPhone Plus range), it starts to become hand gymnastics.
iPhone X has close to the same height as 5" Pixel and S7 flat. That's still comfortable one-handed territory.

Keep telling yourself that Apple and LG doesn't use software palm rejection too and that it's at best only on par with what Samsung does. At least with the Note 8 you get 100% fail-safe palm rejection with the S Pen.

Going to unlock my AT&T-locked SE today out of boredom. Might cost me only $50 and I still won't use it as a daily driver. Only as a backup. If people check Slickdeals, they go for only $140-$150 at Best Buy.
The iPhone 5/5s design was the last Steve Jobs ever saw get developed before he died. Check on MacRumors, and people are still buying an SE because it goes back to the basics and essence of an iPhone. The 6 series and up are more of a reaction to Android with the bigger displays and copycat features.
One thing Android fans/Apple haters don't realize is how much an iPhone can age better than Androids. I read comments for iPhone 4/4s 5/5s and people claim how great it still is many years later. My HTC One M7 runs like molasses after ONE update. The 5s runs smooth after THREE updates.
Planning to keep my SE at the og firmware it came with 10.2.1 or 10.3.3 once I get it unlocked and then restore it. I read that iOS11 is still very smooth though but I feel that update is catered more for iPad and iPhone X. After updating my Pixel to Oreo, I began to hate updating again. Just kills battery life for more features.

People are repeating lies when they say Note 8 have less bezel. The bezels start when the screen curve back introducing light bleed, glare and accidental touch issue. It also offers no drop protection as the glass have to wrap around the metal frame. V30 and iPhone X actually have the proper flat screen that's completely usable.

My experience with Sharp Aquos Crystal, one of the bezel-less originators before Mi Mix, was a horrendous experience. Apple cutting some of the the top and bottom bezel is all they needed to do.
The notch on top doesn't really bother me especially for viewing. My V20 isn't perfectly rectangle either with the front camera on the top left next to the secondary display. People will just get used to it like the Essential Phone having that front camera in the middle.

No thanks to anything with a cut-out. It's a bad solution to the front sensor/cameras problem. The middle part of the edges tends to be a lot more important for your viewing than corners. Try blocking your current displays side and watch a movie, for instance. It gets annoying really fast.

The iPhone X looks cool, I like the design. But the whole bezel-less is nonsense. The Note 8 even has a better screen to body ratio, and the iPhone X still has bezels anyways like any other phone, in fact if you see the images above with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus the left and right bezels are just the same, the only thing is that they removed most of the upper and lower bezel. The rest is unchanged, so it has bezels all around. And not the thinnest either. Personally I still thing the phone looks cool.

I'll be waiting for the next iteration of the iPhone 5 line. Right now I'm perfectly happy with my SE.
