There should be a method to measure the usable surface area of the screen instead of ratios and size.

This 'X' sux! There is nothing ground breaking about this phone. The fancy bits like 3D touch, flood illuminated face recognition, animojis etc. are nothing but a total let down; kids' stuff!!. Not going to move a matured adult. Only welcome bit is the OLED Screen. Finally these guys have admitted that there is no way but surrender before the AMOLED bregade lead by Samsung. Yes, I'm an Android and Samsung fan.... die hard!!

First gsmarena says "the diagonal is equivalent to that of a 5.56” screen."
And after "Against the bigger 8 Plus, you lose about 5%"
So 5.56" is smaller than 5.5" by 5%??
God this guys dont know math

The side bezels of the iPhone x is still the same thinckness making not really edge to edge as claimed, it would be much better if the whole rectangular frame is sliming down a little more.

Kangal, 14 Sep 2017Here's the measurements/comparison for your convenience: iPhone 6/6S/7/8: 16:9, 1334 x 750... moreBtw in the apple website it states that: "The iPhone X display has rounded corners that follow a beautiful curved design, and these corners are within a standard rectangle. When measured as a standard rectangular shape, the screen is 5.85 inches diagonally (actual viewable area is less)."
5.85 inches! so 5.8 inches is rounded edge to rounded edge?

Wow! So I don't particularly like the iPhone (Android user since the original Nexus One), but why raise this discussion about the iPhone X when it was never an issue with the S8 or G6?
I prefer 16x9 screens (up to about 5.3") since they provide wider screens where I can still reach all the corners of the screen without resorting to two-handed operation. Loved the look of the Nexus 6P screen, but hated using it on a daily basis. The S8 and G6 unforturtunately fall into the same trap with a screen that's simply too high for it's own good...

Anonymous, 14 Sep 2017Once you start playing games like excluding the top of the iPhone X display which can only be ... moreI think , the point of Article was that because of cutout you can't use all the screen when viewing videos, playing games, etc on iPhone XXX.

You can use all the screen on S8, though.

Apple has a lot of margin of benefit to blame Samsung or other about the display price. I still prefer more traditional display maximizating the dimensions and bezeless with a robust frame but more integrated not like the iPhone X. At least is a step or a try but It looks like something with horns. A goat? Or something else, uni brow with horns like people call it now. They could sponsor the Bulls. :/

YalokIy, 14 Sep 2017So hard to actually measure and compare the areas?Yeah, I don't understand GSMarena,
Why don't just specify centimeter square (cm2) screen area? instead of complicated things up

Man. iPhone X at $999 starting price blaming Samsung for expensive OLED screen supply.

We had OLED screens since 2009. Most wouldn't know the difference. Maybe it's the Animoji function that's going to make people buying this. All the fans keep telling us of superior color gamut with LCD. Now what?
