Elop, I just switched from Android back to Symbian again. I will never buy a Windows phone, then I could just buy an Android phone. Symbian do the work for me and I'm more satisfied with it than Android.
It feels more that Elop has more personal stakes into Microsoft, than Nokia as a company. Nokia tried with Intel and it didn't work out so why would it work out now with Microsoft?
yea i totally agree with Elop about symbian and MeeGo not having enough time to catch up to android, but i'm still dreaming of a futer where all high end nokia devices r powered by MeeGo and cheap one's running on S40 or some improved version of it, that'd be something !
Maedhros, 02 Jun 2011I'm not sure if I am reading too much between the lines. But reading Elop's hopes for Samsung'... moreThis is the same feeling I'm getting because Samsung's phones tend to be popular this would make Weepy7 (WP7) to be desirable.
Maybe he's hoping that this would in turn mean the Nokia phones would then be there to serve up WP7.
Well for Nokia's sake I hope he's right. Nokia is an old company that has had a massive contribution to how we communicate electronically today.
Yep, I believe it's time for Nokia to make a more powerfull devices.
I really wish that.
Nokia once an innovation companie is falling some behind, Nokia don't need too much power for Symbian devices, but with WP7 things are different.
Let's see, but for Now Nokias future seems to be bright, I'm on the side Nokia need to have ALL plataforms (WP7, Symbian, Android) if they have all will be a clear winner, however they took this road and we users support that.
The sad is Symbian is already one foot at the graveyard and nothing is going to change that since Symbian itself never get an competitive upgrade, is stable and thrusty but looks outdated and is not a la par of todays standards.
Let's see what's going to be in a near future :D
Nokia should make devices like HTC, and Samsung, overpowered and, well, at least reasonable (I refer to the price) ! If they want to have success, Windows Phone 7 should be open source. And for gods sake, think about producing some non-touch W-LAN Phones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every one in these days produces the same Phone. They all look like the I-phone!
"About losing market, people moved to flip phones and Nokia didn’t think they were very important. He mentions this as a major cause of the drop in popularity for Nokia in the US."
What about simply just bad phones with bad OS, Nokia sleeping when others manufacturers were running ahead ?
look at iphone 4 512 ram 1ghz processor speed did you noted apple jumped from 256 to 512 and 600mhz to 1ghz :-) apple is great and minded :-) look now to nokia n8 256 ram and 680processor speed very poor space . symbian also need high space :-) . this is some reason of successfully of apple iphones :-)
Why is it everybody is trying to compare each OS platform? right now am using my nokia 5800 for 2 years because am waiting for a good phone, BTW am gonna go for nokia X7, because I want large screen. .My brother right now is using his latest phone sony Ericsson and when I explore the android. .its very good but for my daily use its not user friendly for me. .my father is using Iphone 4 its really cool because of the screen, games but it did have a bluetooth. .it really depends on where you comfortable to use your phone. .symbian was a superb user friendly. .that's all
By the time u address the space in tablet market the tab market will be ruled by SAMSUNG and APPLE...
According to me Nokia made big mistakes by releasing the same stupid bricks as N96 and others even after the launch of iPhone in 2007 that changed everything
All the manufacturers were busy to copy iPhone and now after trying 4 years they are making even better Phones then iPhone :) as far as Nokia Touch phones are concerned than we know basically mostly nokia touch phones gives cheap look except N8 and are basically "Press screen" not "Touch Screen" we have to put some pressure on the screen to get it work so it is the another Failure which is not desired by any consumer and if we talk about N8 so we all know thats the another big failure by Nokia very unstable
Nokia Needed a CEO like Steve Jobs in 2007 :D
guys i am nokia user but i love apple samsung htc moto lg etc... i want know's what is reason of success iphones :-) . and why nokia phones n97 and n8 not successfully like apple iphones :-) . first look at iphone 3gs and n97 campara space . 3gs 256 gb ram 600mhz processor CPU powerVXR made by samsung :-) . look now to n97 128 ram :( and ARM11 434 MHZ processor :( no CPU . b-coz that n97 not successfully like 3gs .
Goodbye Symbian, Welcome Window7, but how w7 will compete android and ios?
we want A RELEASE.......not just unwanted interviews.... :(
he talks alot but does nothing.
When will somebody veto this clown from his position? As much as I like competition, I'd even rather they go Android than Windows. We all know the main reason they went WP7 is due to Elop's Microsoft Double Agent status. Nokia should've went 100% into Meego or went Meego/Android for its high end and Sym 3 for the low end. I'm about ready to quit supporting Nokia until they get him out of his position. Intel, LG, Aava, Meego, Android here I come. Elop sucks.
Anonymous, 02 Jun 2011i used to sony experia x1 on windows platform and battery only used to last 3 hours! smae t... moreAre you sure? X1 still lasts with me 3~4 and it's like 3 years old.
looks like elop was sent to Nokia by Microsoft to boost their windows phone OS... its really sad Nokia. i was big fan of Nokia ONCE. bye bye Nokia.
AHA! And Nokia want to abandon Symbian which holds 31% of the world market so they can move to Windows Phone which holds 3%??? :)))
Take a look at this chart here Stephen Elop:
This guys is an evil Microsoft troll. Whatever, I don't care anymore about Nokia. I used to have Nokias but whatever. In the next following weeks I will buy my first Android phone which will be Samsung Galaxy S2.
very good job done, Stephen... I wish Google would have such a guy who can join RIM and do similar thing
R.I.P Nokia :)
up to the samsung galaxy s, all my phones were nokia.
