companies like Samsung ,LG ,Huawei Etc Make their own hardware
Companies like HTC ,Xiaomi etc Source parts and assemble them and take care of optimization
And companies like Apple Basically don't do anything they just take care of the software and optimization and they hand over the whole process to Third party assemblers like FoXcon
Also Your Comment Make no sense why would google want to get the display from LG and Make HTC build it and do the optimization When LG can do do it directly and much better
Also in pixels case its Google Who optimizes software and not the hardware partner
Also your argument is failed cause its already confirmed that LG will be making the Pixel XL2 as google doesn't think like you they believe in profits and getting two manufacturers to make one phone is a loss for them

ArsTechnica worried that Pixel will get the same bad p-oled screen as v30. It's really bad in low backlight levels. Dirty mess instead of even field.

Of course they are using someone elses technologie but that doesnt mean that they are letting someone else build the stuff for them so that in the end HTC can just assemble all parts together and claim it as theirs.
I can expect Google to buy the displays from LG and then HTC can tweek them on to the rest.

I anticipate the Pixels to look absolutely stunning and refined. Hope a touch of red body comes out and happy it's not all glass back like so many. Nokia, Google HTC choice for me this year. Giving apple a miss due to hyper jump in price. Great, device like a select few others with equal or better physical build at a more sensible savvy price for the discerning buyer, so no.

The Display [LG,Samsung,Sharp,JDI Etc] ,Camera Sensors [Sony ,Samsung ,OmniVision Etc ] ,Memory & Storage [Samsung ,Toshiba ,Hynix ,Transend Etc] ,Fingerprint Scanners [Goodix ,FPC Etc] ,Processors [Qualcomm ,Mediatek Etc]
They Use all their R&D for an whole year just to make the outer shell look as good as possible and the software side [Sense UI] also they have other divisions like Vive

HTC doesn't make displays and has to either source them From LG,Sharp Samsung or the other display Manufacturers
Also what you are saying is true as the Pixel 2 Will be Made by HTC but the Pixel XL2 will be made by LG just for the display
