Those prices and minimal improvements are really opening gates for the Chinese brands to take bigger and bigger slices of the market.
Way too pricey for what it is. Yes, the Apple iPhone X is a bit more, but it looks a lot better, doesn't resort to cheap solutions like a fingerprint scanner on the back, has a dual camera with some really promising features (let's see how it performs in real tests, of course).
Overall, this year nothing comes close to the iPhone X, it seems, except for the new Note, but even that is not quite there.
Kangal, 19 Sep 2017Google has become boring. They're following Apple by using high prices and marketing to push ... moreI wish I could agree with you on the Nexus 5X. Although it was good value when I first purchased it, it has become painfully slow over the past year. I remember all the Nexus fans talking about how smooth the experience is on Nexus devices in comparison to Samsung's S line (I had a Galaxy S5 at the time) so I jumped ship. Unfortunately, that is not the case. That's the one reason I'm considering the iPhone X as my next device. Apple's consistent speed and fluidity is still unmatched.
I have to see when it comes out if the 128GB Pixe 2XL is worth that price. But for now even though i will like a Pixel 2XL...i also have my sights on, first in line is the LG V30, Mi Mix 2 and also the Huawei Mate 10. Well also throw in the Nokia 9 and Axon 8 if there is one in the pipeline.
UGLY !!!!!! Designers in Google., shame on you !!!!! This is 2017. flagship Google phone design ??? Hardware insaide, and software..will be..OK., probably.., but design..horrible !!!

For that money, the phone has to be utterly gorgeous and desirable. Both the Note 8 and iPhone X are stunning phones.
I just don't like the style they've chosen for the Pixels. I don't want to go broke to own one.

There is really no resemblance between Google and Apple in this area. Apple does some unique hardware, while the Pixel hardware is just run-of-the-mill hardware found in dozens of much cheaper devices. Google immitates Apple but has no substance. They have good software, but mediocre hardware.

The years of phones with good value, and competitive devices are gone from El Goog.
Anyone remember the Nexus 4 ??
Even the Nexus 5X was phenomenal (if only had a QSD 820 instead).
Price for the Pixel 2 is ok. Price for the Pixel XL 2 is too damn high. We all should thank Apple for opening that precedent and now we'll have flagships of 1000 and above. Lmao
Getting S8 for 550€ is a fine deal, but still that lightweight LG V30 is crossing my mind.
Better to skip this phone or wait half of year to see how bad (or -miracles happens - good). I's made by LG so beware of it. It will eat your money and get nothing good.

There is no valid reason to not include a card slot. Google is becoming Apple.
Hopefully with all these near $1k phones, a compact stock android hero will emerge, like the original Moto G before they ruined it by increasing its size.
