AnonD-24741, 20 Sep 2017Samsung made around 50% more than Apple last quarter. In fact Samsung made more money than App... moreAPPLE Makes more profit per piece of iPhone than any other smartphone company the Maximum price of production of an iPhone is around 150-200$ and it's sold for 800-1000 this is pure profit without having to pay the work force or worry about Taxes and the Manufacturing costs

Samsung s Manufacturing costs per piece are much more than apple cause they have to bear all the costs of manufacturing also Korea may be more expensive place to manufacture but do you have any idea about the concept of Subsidies and Tax Holidays Etc

Samsung may have sold more devices and made more profit btw the per piece cost of production to sale ratio of an iPhone is very high there is almost 85% profit per iPhone For Apple

AnonD-518022, 20 Sep 2017All I said was they were part of China, I didn't mention anything more and you giving me an es... moreDid you actually ready the initial comment that I replied to or you just keep randomly posting comments

No they need no patent from HTC.
They just need the facilities.
To get the price down of manufacturing.
So they can get more royalties Apple style.
They bought Motorola for keep the patents in US.
Just for that.
Now they can start making phones in house.
Asking same price as Apple.
So who will be the money maker?
Google or Apple?

This was the exact comment I replied to and my Reply was that if Google Wanted to purchase HTC just for employment purpose Wouldn't they have Gone The apple way and hired a contract supplier like Foxconn to make the devices That would make the production cost of the device much more cheaper than buying HTC

Also regarding manufacturing didn't Motorola have better facilities than HTC so why did google move it on??

You could see the decline of HTC from as early as 2012. They wanted to release fewer phones back then, then went against it. Then they wanted to become premium brand, and failed. Then they changes their marketing to the iron man, didn't help. You give them emails, they don't even reply. You wont be missed like other classic brands like Nokia, and Palm were. Google will probably prep the brand up and then sell it like Motorola.

If Google acquire HTC, they will coco it up like they have every other hardware they have tried,if they want HTC for knocking out pixels, then the deal will last three years max, hardly the biggest sellers are they ?
And I would still be suprised if the Taiwan gov give it the ok..

Things google need to do:
0. Get rid of all Java/JVM lang(s) and go for something mean(like C, C++, Swift) for Android(I know about NDK, but JVM is ****).
1. Less dependency (like Apple, it should start working on its hardware division)
2. Close-source the Android
3. Get rid of JetBrains IDE base, Android studio is slow as hell!

Not really a suprise. HTC was making good phones lately, but their price politics was suicidal.
Also there was no diversity, no new ideas.
Every OEM thinks they can pull an Apple or a Sasmung. Not gonna happend.
But i think they are pretty good in the VR department. So they should stick to that. Google's gonna own the brand for a year max.

Merwyn Fernandes, 20 Sep 2017Apple Makes the most money of any smartphone manufacturer and no one can beat that and if Goog... moreSamsung made around 50% more than Apple last quarter. In fact Samsung made more money than Apple, Google, Facebook and Twitter added together last quarter. Samsung makes their own stuff in South Korea, which definitely is a "more expensive" country to manufacture stuff in.
Samsung is making that much money because they don't have to hop around amongst random outsourcing companies to find the best deal while not getting too bad quality.

So the next Ocean models could have stock Android and cost between 949$ and 1449$ with their new pseudoplastic mouldable/bendable back that simulates precious minerals. Nice!!!

AnonD-518022, 20 Sep 2017HTC is actually a Chinese manufacturer, remember Tiawan is part of China Taiwan is not China it's a Territory controlled by the Republic of China and In the territories the employment is not cheap as the mainland all of Chinese territories are so expensive that many people can't even afford to live there and you are talking about cheap employment Eg Hong Kong , Macau and Taiwan are all extremely expensive cities and the cost of manufacturing here is more than that of mainland China

Most workers in mainland China are from neighbouring villages where there is extreme poverty that's the reason people move to cities like Shenzen to find work Can't say the same about people from Macau or Hong Kong

Also these cities are full of millionaires

Taiwan is as Chinese as Macau or Hong Kong where there are daily protests for independence they have their own administration and also function differently

So if Google is looking at cheap employment then Mainland China is better than Taiwan

And it's obvious that cheap employment is not their priority to buy HTC If it was then they would have gone with foxconn similar to what apple does
