Iskander, 24 Sep 2017Cutouts are just crappy. The way LG did it with the V10/20 and X Screen are a better solution,... moreI don't really think so. I can see the difference between Xperia M4 Aqua ( slightly below 300 ppi) and iPhone 5 (326 poi)

Samsung produces much more elegant smartphones, that's why no one complains about their design. People say iPhone x is ugly because it's ugly. No need to defend apple because it won't get better otherwise.
AnonD-1825, 24 Sep 2017Next year galaxy S9 comes with cutout like iPhone X and it will be totally fine, people are ag... moreWhen iPhone make something different, people will say ugly, and when make the same model or almost the same people will say copy.
I watch a bit of wide screen vids/movies on the phone so apples cutout solution would annoy the heck out of me. I can't look at the iPhone x without my eyes immediately focusing to cutout every single time. That's a major annoyance.
Cutouts are always ugly because disrupt the harmony of the screen, period. iPhoneX is specially ugly with that kind of "ear lobes"....just horrible. If Steve Jobs was alive and in charge he'd never allowed such a thing.
Essential phone a bit better but still ugly.
The best is round corners and minimum bezels.

I wouldn't have said it better, and it describes how I feel better than I ever could, other than the last sentence, since I'm not a fan of those LG phones :D
AnonD-1825, 24 Sep 2017Next year galaxy S9 comes with cutout like iPhone X and it will be totally fine, people are ag... moreSome won't look exactly the same because not all OEMs will bank on Face ID and 3D/AR camera tech like what Apple is doing. That's the main and only reason why there is a cutout in the first place with the X. For the cameras and sensors on the front to map your face for face unlock and 3D animojis. Not everyone will copy Apple. Maybe Samsung would though.
The only company that seems to go under the radar but is quietly innovative is Motorola and their Moto Mods. They have a shatterproof glass on their Z Force. Aplle claims strongest glass but you see it shatter from a 4 ft drop. I love Motorola. That could be my next phone again. Just improve camera quality. Next to Nokia, clearest reception and strongest radio signals ever.
If there are no cutouts on our television sets or when we go to a movie theater, then why would I like cutouts on a smartphone? That's iPhone X's worst trait even moreso than the ugly camera hump on the back that nobody stares at. It just seems smartphones get faster but also a little worse and worse in other areas.
I haven't been truly impressed by a phone design since the HTC One M7. In 2017, we have to deal with awkward bezel-less, sticky icky glass rears, no headphone jack, nomore removable battery on flagships, and cutouts. Heck, even the iPhone 8 and Note8 battery is smaller this year compared to their predecessor.
It seems smartphones peaked between 2014-2016 started by the Snapdragon 800/801. Hold onto your flagships released those years for as long as you can. I'm thinking of picking up a Galaxy S5 and Note 4 just for the hell of it but then remembered I hate TouchWiz. G5 and V20 for life!
How could you say that big black blob on screen is a "feature"?!
Arix, 24 Sep 2017Keep the bezels and put stereo front facing speakers!Yeah!!! I want to see bezels on phones with dual front speakers too!!
I really hate these crap screens, edge, cutout, i really like sony design language.in addition i like iPhone's design except iPhone x. for bezeless screens i like lg v30 not the infinity edge crap or cut out
Next year galaxy S9 comes with cutout like iPhone X and it will be totally fine, people are against it only because itÂ’s iPhone.
By the way like it or not but that iPhone X really stand out from the rest, 95% of upcoming flagship phones going to look exact same like LG v30 huawei new mate 10 pro etc, Apple made smart move to make something different.
The iPhone X's cutout is weird, why not just have a completely bezelless bottom and a 5mm top bezel for the sensors?? Best of both worlds.
I don't like cutouts 'cause it's such a bad idea, you see, the screen is for watching content so why you should have something distracting you from the things you are watching I see it, -from companies like Apple as a poor imaginative solution, i like more the idea of the Note8, S8's and many other 'cause it's more enjoyable and easy to live with
BiyoBiyo JunJun, 24 Sep 2017nobody care ... people more care what apple did than android phone itself ... that essential ... moreI make fun of every smartphone without analog, audio output and making fun of it certanly takes courage.
Rounded corners are good, i do not like apple approach not cos it is bad design but because they want us to accept their design language I do not approve this design because it is not most practical and wise way to loose some degree of beauty. they did not had to do it in the first place. their screen to body ratio speaks for it. what they did is somehow exaggerate their face id and camera in my opinion. iPhone X is a great phone and will sell like hell. it has the best specs and at least has 15% better all-round performance over competition, best camera phone and probably speakers, maybe it is the best phone for know, but it is not most beautiful.
BiyoBiyo JunJun, 24 Sep 2017nobody care ... people more care what apple did than android phone itself ... that essential ... moreCos Android phone never used to make a big deal about things like being the first and all. When you boast big, you will be criticized big.
