Still I think theres room to make the cutouts shorter on the essential and iphone x.

To be honest I like rounded corners. On s8 I fell that it's a bit different. Cutouts sucks.

Cutouts are just crappy. The way LG did it with the V10/20 and X Screen are a better solution, in that sense that the secondary screen is truly secondary and not used by apps/video.
Also, Apple is not first to be busy with this. Essential phone was already mentioned before, but LG has used the upper space with screen real estate even before that, be it, again, not as cutout but as additive.
Same annoys me about the 'Apple started the resolution wars'. Apple was miles behind on resolution with it's iPhone 3GS. There already were phones out there with pixel densities close to 300ppi. Then Apple goes slighty over the 300, because they double the pixelcount both directions, so that their apps won't do weird and all of a sudden the 300 is the magic number. If their doubling would have yielded a 290ppi, the magic number would be 275ppi and everything else is crap. Somehow, people love this type of marketing.
In any case, I rather have my phone without little devil horns in the display.

I think that the cutouts of phones like the Essential and Iphone X are not too bothersome and I even think that they give it a really nice touch and I also believe that we will continue to see more cutouts in the near future until they come up with something like under glass sensors until then it'll be better if get used to them for at least a few years maybe?

Rounded corners are OK (there's an app called Cornerfly if you want to try it and see how you like it) even though I don't like them, you get used to it. But cutouts - no, ugly, unless they make the part of the UI with the cutout always black with notifications on it. I don't want my phone to look like my dog ate a part of the screen.

I hate cutouts. They ruin the design. For me, rounded colors is the maximum I can tolerate even though they are stupid. But the radius shall be very small, not like iX

Screen cutouts are the most hideous thing ever on a phone. I rather not have that screen estate at my disposal than an ugly cutout obstructing my view. Most irritating thing ever.

Cutouts are just plain horrible. Especially monstrous cutouts as on the iPhone X are just Xtremely ugly. What crack have they been smoking?
Smaller cutouts as on the Essential are not quite as ugly, but still very annoying, because it sits right in the middle. It might be acceptable it was a small cutout sitting in the upper left corner, not bothering anyone.
Not a friend of rounded corners as well.

I hate cutouts, it's that simple.
Nothing should obstruct video, picture or a game.
Just make side blackbars as an option for every app and i will be fine with that.
I mean video and picture will be a lot smaller, but that is the price i am willing to pay to see the "whole picture".
With round edges i could live with, i don't like it, but that's like tiny pixel in a corner.

well, despite of your fears, you will have to get used to it eventually. because in a very few years, you will not be able to find a new smartphone with yours outdated technology limited design.

cutouts are always better than dead real estate screen space... till they will find a way to move the sensors under the screen.
just silly to prefer dead space when you could use it for screen
