What? , 23 Sep 2017Hmmmmmm I smell a rat.... I mean considering Sony's background is cameras do you really think ... moreI think bad software and post-processing was the reason Sony Xperia XZ Premium got average score.
But still, i agree what you said. I think someone paid DXOMark to update their protocols (bokeh effects, wide-angle and telephoto) . Can't believe Sony was punished for keeping it's principles of single cam / not having (quitely gimmicky) dual-cams :(. Their camera was very superior to other camera sensor of other competitors . I think without new protocols, it scored higher tbh. 5 Axis EI Stabilization, daylight photo was the reason it helped Sony alot. (night time photo was never considered a thing till at least 2013)
We really shouldn't just judge a phone's camera quality based on reviews and the benchmarks. The user should test it themselves and compare it.
TheGoldMellifluousXZ, 23 Sep 2017Ok , let's get this straight . I know , camera is a staple for a smartphone since then , from ... morebecause sony's wide angle photo is very distorted. unlike the other brands.
Of the score is down only because of zoom and bokeh, then it's not a big deal breaker.
AnonD-85136, 23 Sep 2017Dxomark is like a sh**t.. no. dxo is the best, like you said long time ago.
i Love Dxo
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2017I don't care about camera too much. I need very smooth phone that never lag. And it is Sony.LOL. aaaaahaaahaaa now you said that, dear 6xuu.
why dont you praise dxo again?
Still too high that score, I think that scores resembles the excellent quality video and very good daytime images, otherwise if low light is concerned then this should have a score of below 80 certainly.
I feel something weird / fishy here . Why Sony Xperia XZ Premium was tested after 3 months of its released , while other 2017 flagships partners was tested not long after the release or before one ? Is someone paying the review or what , in terms of time , so it can take down Sony to the lowest point ? Worse of all , it was published after the new protocol rules (bokeh effect , wide-angle , telephoto) was released ? Damn ........
Bokeh and zoom? Really? I thought they testing quality, not gimmicks. So useless test.
They had to split test to features and raw quality. And give two scores. Like antutu - one core performance/multicore performance.
Royal, 23 Sep 2017Sony providing sensors to all Oems But they never optimised for herself R.I.P For Sony mobiles NowWhen those sensors are the ones getting you more profits than your own mobile division, then they sure be putting their best sensors in them. A change in their age old design philosophy and few tweaks here and there in their own mobile cameras will do wonders for their mobile division also. Wonder why they aren't doing better than what they have been doing till now....
Hoffmann, 23 Sep 2017Although I think this DxO thing is not that accurate, I'm very surprised to see XZ Premium in ... moreWhich 2015 device score better??
S6 edge got 82... iPhone 7 got 85(definitely iPhone 7 have better camera than sony), iPhone 7 plus got 88 due to exellent bokeh and zoom..their new potocol is very good actually ! Perrfectly judged the camera capability!
Sony never was between best in android photography, so I am not surprised
More than bokeh, I would care more about very bad processing and blurry edges. Its so visible in their shots.
Hmmmmmm I smell a rat.... I mean considering Sony's background is cameras do you really think they would release a new phone with an inferior camera ? Or perhaps Apple just bunged more money to DxOmark....
After all IPhone 8 is an uninspiring IPhone and the IPhone X may not have even started production!
So Apple is worried about sales methinks.
Also funny how there's no score for the Galaxy Note8 the direct competitor to IPhone 8!
Apple is up to no good ......
This just shows how important role software has for how the photos will going to look.
Sony camera hardware always been great but for some weird reason when they do cameras for themself they just canÂ’t compete.
Ok , let's get this straight . I know , camera is a staple for a smartphone since then , from low-end like Redmi 4A to high-end like XZ Premium , S8 , etc. It needs to be great or even beyond-great because some people buy phones for camera and it needs a good photos to get . Even dual-cam trends now booming , so it needs to move on .
But , does every phone has to relies on camera to be came the best ? That statement also for design . Design also shouldn't be the-same-and-one-for-all design , even it had to be same , differeniated that it's stand out , not exactly the same ( I'm looking at you , Oppo and Vivo) . Even now almost phones that's bezel-less , some of them not even true bezel-less (I'm looking at you again, Vivo X20 and V7+) . Some people looking for performance only maybe , or resolution of phone , or functional hardware button (FPS , mute-button , 2-staged-camera dedicated button) , and much more .
Tbh , although it was lower than Z5 , X Perf. and XZ , it still impressed for me , even there's at least one innovation inside the IMX400 , although not the best at the conclusion . I admitted the lost of Sony due software and post-processing , but still , it's the powerful phone camera sensor in the world . K ?
Edit : I almost forgot about this one . DxoMark has a new protocol rules about camera results and one of them is bokeh effect , wide angle and telephoto . No wonder XZ Premium was scored lower than XZ . Seem XZP is the new victim of DxoMark new protocol . Seem my trust to DXOMark just faded away instantly ....... Quite pathetic . They're now biased toward Sony . That's also for another website that do the same (you already know at least one of them , right ?) . Very sad.......
Anonym, 23 Sep 2017"Either that, or DxOÂ’s testing protocols arenÂ’t in SonyÂ’s favor" -- Now that's rich! DxO pr... more"It did poorly in DxOÂ’s new Zoom and Bokeh tests, which pulled the weight of the score down."
the sony has no double camera for zoom or bokeh
but .. that does not say anything about picture quality
dxomark tests and rating don't mean anything at all. they milk brands each year to skew tests in whoevers favor. next time its going to be "more points if camera shoots black and white"
