People are mad that XZP got 83 while ip8 got 92, just throw away those bokeh and zoom scores and recount it again by yourself! Even s6 got 82 (it used to be 86) after the new protocol, so think just how 83 means if it was tested using the old one? Yup it could be 87, the same score as XZ!

Still low compare to another flagship? It means they still need to improve their camera a lot, both hardware and software!

While the flagship's camera has been very good nowadays you can never go wrong to choose one of them but still improvement is a must!

Name of the joke is DxOMark. They are considering some stupid effects (bokeh or zoom) over picture quality to score how good camera is. Seriously.

Reaper , 23 Sep 2017Haha there is no way for XZ Premium to get 83!! I have tested the camera myself and it's ahead... moreWell for low light I get most of what they say, exposure and contrast wise they seem to focus on detail in darker places more than lighter areas. Lots of phones have unrealistically bright shadowy areas but are praised for the detail in them.
If sony improves the the software with a toned down pixel like hdr algorithm and work on the software that decides on iso and shutter speed, that would help with exposure and detail in darker areas.
If they add OIS to the next phone, they would reduce blur from shaky hands, noise and artifacting especially in low light.

ZloiYuri, 23 Sep 2017Bokeh and zoom? Really? I thought they testing quality, not gimmicks. So useless test. They ... moreCertainly dXoMark is anything but useless
You could discriminate the protocol and look only categories that important for real photography,
like contrast, color, autofocus, texture, noise etc...
Just overlook the bokeh and zoom if you"re not interested.

Because Sony camera is like Android.
It have old ugly made algorithm inside made 10 years ago, and all what they did for past years is covered it with fancy addons, and because of that overall performance is just bad.
Sometimes you need to stop and make something new to evolve...

Last good camera made by Sony was... Xperia Arc S. Im not joking, after that those are literally the same image algorithms just inserted in device with better optic.

If you really compare all Sony devices you will find EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEMS with every sony camera. Mostly huge and ugly noise reduction. Not to mention that camera app it self is just bad, for past years they used the same panorama mode as from devices from 2011... just recent devices actually managed to stitch something better than small, blurred mosaic.

Only real solution for sony is to fire people responsible for camera software... and just buy some ready to use software for it... because as far as sony hardware is nice, their software is stuck in 2010...

If for the inferior xperias I would consider giving them lower scores. But actually the opposite happened here, they gave the masterpieces 83 not the others. Is it like they don't know how to shot great pictures anymore!! kind of weird hmmm

funny enough is that Sony produces majority of cam sensors for other companies Yet they haven't figured out how to properly implement one of them to their own box piece.

Because Sony is a Kind company, and no need to competite to other flagships. Sony just want to stay on their mine, if Sony make a good camera, maybe there is some fight on Market. So, Sony keep a good camera but not the best. Good is enough no need to competition. Love Sony.

DxO mark is bull shit ,it's all about business, and promotion , I have a sony z2 and a nokia 808 pv, my 808 got a 79 score while 81 for z2 , I have a pitty for dxo bull shit , the video of my 808 is way way ..... miles better than the z2 and the photos shot by 808 pv are still better than the newest best smartphones, so apple iphone 8 or X or htc u11 they all suck with their cams , that is fact not doubt, I have compared them , no need for DxO bull shit, do not trust DxO or else you will regret your choice of phone.

[deleted post]Precisely. DisplayMate is very biased, more biased than DXOMark (although its different type of review specific tester). They only ever tested Samsung and very few various other OEM and Samsung paid them alot. What a pathetic way. That's why when a very expert reviewer review aphone, mentioning a DisplayMate is putting the very professional review to shame due the biased of DisplayMate. No wonder why other OEM hate DisplayMate and other things.

Lets re cap back at z5 premium ,their camera being complain on gsmarena but on dxo score the highest(at that time).and now xz premium, get quite positive review from gsm and another site, but on dxo score 83 even lower than z5p.what kind of jokes is this???

conclusion: dont easily trust reviewer, better go try directly by ourself..
