Anonymous, 26 Sep 2017Given Samsung's margins, I wouldn't bet my house on it What margins? lol Samsung sells a bazillion more phones than apple yet they make less money, its that simple, apple takes I think like 60 or 70% of total smartphone revenue yet sells way way less phones, it can be explain just by one thing, they are super cheap to make, like the article states, and they sell it at inflated prices, why do you think the iphone x is $999 its not because its innovation, its because apple dint want to pay for the higher costs, so they pass them to the consumer, and keep the same margins, that simple.

Customer support and ext... moreR&D, staff costs and retail space do indeed cost a fair amount, but the economies of scale involved in the tens of millions of iPhone 8 variants that will be sold mean that these will only amount to a few dollars per phone.
Apple artificially inflate the price of everything they sell to add to the premium aesthetic, even with items such as the Lightning cable which they sell for $20 but costs less than a buck to make.

Qualcomm holds an monopoly in android realm for the most powerfull SoCs.And even besides SoCs from competitors(i.e.Samsung,Mediatek) OEMs still has to buy "certain" amount from QC in order not to be sued over various patents.
Put on that,that typical QC chip is larger in mm/2 than Apple,and you'll get the picture...

Is the body miling process cost accounted for? It is supposed to be way cheaper with the 8 that is not made of a single piece of 7000 Aluminum. The frame must still be miled though.
