Obviously, iPhone 10 won't be so underpowered like when 4 and 6 were released. The iPhone 4 was the last to have single core and A4 was a slightly better and rebranded Samsung SoC found on the 3Gs. The 4's GPU was underpowered as playing Subway Surfers won't stutter and lag. The 6/6 Plus only had 1gb RAM. A8 wasn't that great.

The iPhone 10 is more than capable to last longer than those tick updates. The question is why get it when we know a stronger version of the same design will be released in less than a year? Every 2018 iPhone model except for the SE2 will look like the X. The SE2 is probably an SE with a glass back.

Rock with the tock.

2009 - 3Gs
2011 - 4s
2013 - 5s
2015 - 6s
2016 - SE (5ss), 7/7 Plus (6sss)
2017 - 8/8 Plus

iPhone X might be a one-time naming scheme but not its design. The 5.8" iPhone X design with 4gb RAM like the iPad Pro and bringing back a fingerprint scanner is the one to wait for. Maybe Apple rids of those devil horns too after a year. Let all the idiots who like throwing away money fight for the X because it's some special 10-year anniversary iPhone with a cool name or spelling that they probably won't get until its 11th year.

Low quantities while expected to sell 90M within a year is a marketing ploy to create an urge to get it ASAP. Limited quantities helps scalpers have better profits. The iPhone X is really meant to sell off. Then pick up the successor to it next year. That's the one to keep. The iPhone 8/8 is the underrated one in my eyes. The iPhone 4 & 6 remixed.

RRR, 26 Sep 2017The Iphone X Battery will be in between Iphone 8 and Iphone 8 plus in terms of endurance, so i... moreThere's more things to consider. First off, IPS panels aren't all too thirsty either these days, so gaining much from going OLED there is unlikely.

As mentioned, resolution is going to do something on battery life, but what people seemingly often tend to forget, is that while OLED is better in blacks, IPS is better for white screens. That means, if your menu's, webpages and all the likes are in bright whites, you will notice a negative effect on the batterylife with OLED screens.

Time will tell how well the iPhone X will do, but I don't expect miracles, when compared to the iPhone 8 Plus

Mr. Electronics, 26 Sep 20171. People should not complain about if other people will buy this phone. It's their loss, not ... moreThese android users don't have any life. They only click iPhone news to bash Apple. Because deep down inside they know iPhone will sell more than single model of their android phone. No one saying them to buy iphone. They are insecure about about their android phones.

2017 is the first time in iPhone's history when it's both a tick (X) and tock update (7s = 8).

Last year, it was more of a tock year as SE is really 5ss and 7 is really 6ss.

iPhone users don't need battery, neither more RAM, because they don't really need to use their phone, they buy it to show off mostly, so it's more important to be 2mm, than last a couple of hours in use more...
Ram is a wise move though, iOS doesn't have multitasking, it only does one thing at a time, more RAM would just consume more battery for the same performance, just like the 6gb Android's do.

Not surprised by the battery capacity. The only reason Apple seems to keep getting away with it is because of they legendary standby time and also because of their OS. It's really optimized! Put the same battery size on an Android phone and you'll be reaching for you charger 5 times a day lol. Android user here by the way just stating facts lol.

People complaining about Apples price and battery size... moreI neither have an iphone nor any slamsug, I dislike them both AND Their high prices. I can buy what I need for €100 - 250 any day and it keeps getting better every year. Saying Note 8 has a smaller battery doesn't diminish the fact that iphones has has sub 1950 mAh for 10 years, so put that in your pipe and smoke it.

AnonD-514012, 26 Sep 2017The real title is Iphone 8plus and X have smaller battery compare to 7plus.iPhone 7/7 Plus might be the last design to have aluminum rears. Shame. Then again, I saw that the 8/8 Plus is harder to scratch. Camera is also much improved especially in low light. I think with the looming shadow and imminent release of the X, the 8/8 Plus gets completely overlooked when it might be the best iPhone with the 6 series design.

iPhone 8 Plus has same SoC and rear camera as the X. Same amount of RAM as 7 Plus and X. I think a smarter move if you enjoy upgrading every year is to use the iPhone 8 Plus for a year and then get the successor to the X next September. Just use 8+ as a temporary place holder. There is no hassle getting it right now either since everyone has fallen into the X hype.

I hate glass designs though. Doesn't feel right but the white rears don't show smudges as much. I just wished 8 Plus had a black front/white back option like the X.

Best iPhone from each design -
                        2G (only one)
3Gs (first SoC upgrade, video recorder)
4s (first dual-core, better Antenna placement)
SE (best 5/5s design with 6s SoC and rear cam)
6s (last in those sizes to have headphone jack)
                        8 (wireless & fast charging, looks like the 4 & 6 series)

I consider the 8 having a 6 series design but it also looks like a 4 series. 7 might be the last to use aluminum but 8 doesn't have the hassle of finding one, improved battery life, cameras, A11 Bionic etc.

The iPhone 8/8 Plus has a 4 & 6 series design remix. Harder to scratch an 8 than a 7. As much as people ignored the iPhone 8 & 8 Plus, they really are the best model from the 6 series. For anyone wanting a home button, they might be the last to feature it.

2018 iPhones will all be "home-less" and have a devil horns screen/Bert from Sesame Street unibrow display. Pick up the 8 Plus now. Get the X2, X1, or whatever they call it next year when the features are more refined and they add another gig of RAM.

The iPhone 8 Plus still has longer battery life. Check Apple's website and compare.

Just wait for the successor to the X. Don't fall for thr hype. It's a tick year on design and some of the features feels beta. Doesn't make sense that iPad Pro has 4gb RAM, PiP, and split-screen, sold cheaper but iPhone X doesn't have any of that.

September 2018 is when you wait for the next iPhone X. Perhaps Touch ID returns but onto the display. Since iOS is starting to act like Android, 4gb RAM should be bare minimum going forward. The X will age only as well as a 7+ and 8+. Look how badly 5s and 6 aged on iOS11 with only 1gb.

I read no SE based on the X design. No OLED for it. We are getting 5.8 or 6.4! For me, I like the dimensions of the X already as it's close to my 5" Pixel. Just wait when it gets an extra gig of RAM and if Touch ID returns. Tock years have proven to be better in the long run.

                                      Tick: OG/3G, 4, 5/5c, 6, 7, X
                                      Tock: 3Gs, 4s, 5s, 6s/SE, 8 (7s)

Always go for the stronger twin. Externals don't matter to me. Internals do. Looks fade. Performance lasts.
