Probably made like that to make it impact resistant... Sapphire breaks very easily.
Some of you guys are so dumb repeating Zack/Jerry's "pure sapphire" nonsense. There is no such thing as pure sapphire, even natural jewelry sapphire aren't "pure" which is what give its color.
Apple made the synthetic sapphire according to the need of the Apple Watch which includes shatter resistant, transparency and anti-reflectiveness, something the sapphire on Tissot cannot do.
Zack/Jerry is a business major and his job experience is retailing phone. If you learning engineering and chemical science from someone like that, you need to get your head checked.
Stefy The First, 26 Sep 2017At Apple we took glass and turn it to sapphire..yes, like Jesus Christ turn water into wine and so on...
- oh yeah, Aiple is the new Jesus Christ i forgot that.
But for what i learn from the religion is that they dont charge you a lot to belive in miracles, but apple do charge a lot...and anyway have their follower's. BTCOH
Zach/Jerry should consult an engineer and scientist before making his ignorant claim. Lab test isn't a guy using a tool he doesn't understand scratching at a surface with undetermined force.
peapole are not with their minds to buy that overpriced shit from those liers Apple,Samsung is on that way too, very expensive phones with poor quality batteries and weak structure, yeah i point on you Samsung because all your J series 2016/17 is bending like poor quality unknown Chinese brands, not to mention your 45 euro led view, clear cover and so on series, they cant even pass a 6 monts without breaking apart
Wills blanket1, 26 Sep 2017Good Sarcasmah finally somebody got it :)
LG superfan, 26 Sep 2017It is sapphire with impurities thats why its gets scratchedIn simple terms "As fake as Gimmick"
It's fake sapphire :) damn thanks for showing this video , I'm no more gonna buy the Apple product , feel betrayed -_-.So this is why many peeps are switching to Android?
What's the point of having "Sapphire" if it scratches just as easily as Gorilla Glass!?
They are charging 1000$ extra for it for god's sake. I hope this brand just disappear someday.
MarcioR, 26 Sep 2017Hey, don't say that, Apple charges premium quality and if Apple states sapphire then it's sapp... moreSounds so fanboyish but nvm that. Zack (the YouTuber states that apple is indeed using sapphire but still scratches at level 6 which is the same as gorilla glass 5. Pure crystals (that's used on the tissot watch and on htc u11 sapphire edition) should scratch at level 8 and above. The way I see it, Apple is charging way too high for an unnecessary material
MarcioR, 26 Sep 2017But gorilla glass 5 scratches at 6, why should sapphire scratch at that level too? It means Ap... moreZack of JRE confirmed that the Apple Sapphire is definitely sapphire (aluminum oxide) by using that machine (I forgot its name). It's just not as high quality as his Tissot watch and HTC U Ultra Sapphire. If people think that the scratch is just the oleophobic coating, he heated the watch screen and the scratch marks (especially 6 and 7) are still there.
Is anyone REALLY surprised that the greedy sods at aPple cheats the customers by misleading marketing?
Their whole business strategy has always been: "The Emperors New Clothes"
Love the Community, 26 Sep 2017It is sapphire but the way it got scratched slightly at Mohs 6 means they seem to cut corners ... moreBut gorilla glass 5 scratches at 6, why should sapphire scratch at that level too? It means Apple has been lying? I thought the price of that smartwatch was that high because the watch wouldn't get scratched so easily..
MarcioR, 26 Sep 2017Hey, don't say that, Apple charges premium quality and if Apple states sapphire then it's sapp... moreIt is sapphire but the way it got scratched slightly at Mohs 6 means they seem to cut corners on the glass quality. I hope that scandal made Apple reduce the price of their most expensive version drastically and Sapphire and Ceramic aren't that expensive to begin with.
