The XA design was a step in the right direction and I wish they used the same in all their 2016 and 2017 flagship and premium midrange phones. That way, the transition to mirai would have been more fluid. I feel like this announcement is a slight betrayal to their solid fan base and a disservice to their current phones on the market. I mean, why would people want to buy them now for such high prices when they'll be rendered aesthetically obsolete by the succeeding phones with the new design which are coming "soon"?

Great News! Maybe I will consider buying a Sony again, I recognize their designs are very good looking, however, the top and bottome bezels where just to big for me to consider them, they dont need to be as small as S8's but at least half way between.

Good one Sony but please for crying out loud stop using plastic camera lenses on mid rangers
Lex79, 27 Sep 2017Oh no, how can this be!?!?!? The Sony fans have spend the last 6 months going on endlessly ... moreAs long as they have no side bezels with much thinner top and bottom bezels, there should be no problem at all and no one will ever say to them "These bezels!!!", well, unless there are still haters who try and troll because they are salty lol
The reason why Sony fans defend the bezels because you Samsung bezelless fans bullied them. Fighting back and defend was the fan's response to the bullies because that's naturally how humanity respond. They'll defend until Sony finally utilize "Mirai" which was probably been designed on for 2-3 years. Or maybe it's the fact that the XZ Premium got the coveted MWC Award as Best Phone and you guys are petty about it.
Xperia had to evolve (even tho it seems at last, we have good examples about a good provisioned big bezel over the old times > Xperia S & Xperia L). Way to go. Let's expect the best "soon"!
Oh no, how can this be!?!?!?
The Sony fans have spend the last 6 months going on endlessly how bezelless design are the purview of the evil Samsung!
Now Sony are themselves going down this 'pointless' route....what's next Sony...dual camera's?
Could it be we see yet another sudden shift in attitude by the Sony fans?.... we'll see..........

This is what I've heard about next gen xperia:
- yes, bezel will be thinner but....
- top and bottom bezel still have 0.8-1.0cm thick
- ONLY one size of bezel will be bezel-less, most likely left side
Nice Sony. Every time you release a new flagship you will immediately talking about how superior the next flagship will be.
Anonymous, 27 Sep 2017Don't do that dear Sony just because 2K18 is huge bezels year... lolThe Bezel trolling on Sony should stop now. Sony said they'll utilize their new and bezelless "Mirai" design on their next flagship phones on MWC. I hope their bezelless design is better than what we have right now.
lmao...they caved... :) Now what fanbois? I thought bezel was best???
AnonD-318938, 27 Sep 2017you do know sony has created foldable phone/tablet way back in 2011 aka Sony Tablet S2 (tablet... moreBut it's more like a dual screen clamshell design just like the Nintendo DS. We didn't have the one foldable screen technology back then so it doesn't count but I'm sure Sony will be able to do that. Bravia and Tri-Luminos technology on their flexible OLEDs if they manufacture those.
