I think it's about time, honestly. I personally loved the OmniBalance design, but it's time for something newer. Especially when it comes to Sony, a company known for beautiful product designs.
According the source, I ONLY know Sony will bring a new design but they did not say it is bezelless. But the writer can imagination so much, then the reader also and the troll also the same.

Even if design is ugly and camera isn't the best I will buy Sony phone again because of it's smooth stable interface and durable build. But yes good move. It will look cool.

Typing this on a Sony Xperia Tablet Z, a few years old, and not as zippy by today's standards, but physically still the nicest tablet ever made. Grippy thin body, waterproof, stereo speakers and pogo pins, so I just dock it and it becomes a photo frame.
The angular design of this and the current Xperias is in fact both attractive and functional. I have a Note5 and may get a Note8 because I need a stylus, but whilst curvey bezzeless screens are sexy they are pointless, Sony are in fact being sensible!

In other words, will be no side bezels, top and bottom will have biggest waste space as ever, bezel-less :) you need to understand Sony :)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
The side bezels are already thin enough, the top and bottom bezels are easy enough to deal with thanks to accessibility options in Android, and now people want these ridiculously tall 18:9 displays? Sony, people really just want OIS and IP68 waterproofing. That's all. You don't have to make dumb, extreme sacrifices for more display area.
